I read Salman khan does 1000 pushups 2000 sit ups 500 crunches everyday? That is insane amount of load
most likely BS...most likely one of his maximum effort day. 500 crunches is manageable (but still not daily)....1000 pushups and 2000 situps (squats ??) is a bit too much - that too daily!! http://www.military.com/military-fitness/workouts/try-pushup-push-workout Even this SEAL kind of pushup-only program suggests about 300 (that too if you manage 75 in a set!), other wise 200 a day is intense enough - that too on alternate days. Edit: Looks like some 'advanced' navy seals level of athletes do 500-1000 pushups in a day. http://www.ehow.com/about_5304216_safe-do-push_ups-day_.html But Salman definitely does not look like one of that category.

My maximum crunch ever is 125.. I did in 2 sets. Pushup also i can go 50 at one go when my arms are not tired of other exercise. Squat..is the hardest for me. Probably less practice was the reason.

“He does unbelievable stuff like 1,000 push-ups a day or 2,000 sit-ups a day” says Manish Advilkar, who is a fitness trainer and has trained Salman for over 6 years. Discipline and dedication have been the two pillars of Salman’s fitness success. “Today, of course his body speaks for his dedication. No matter how punishing his shooting schedule, Salman will find time to exercise” adds Manish. http://www.mensxp.com/health/body-building/648-salman-khan-a-john-abrahams-fitness-mantra.html

I still feel, he would need to split them across 4-5 sessions per day...,1000 pushups and 2000 squats still do not look feasible in 1-2 sessions... w/o seeing by my eyes, its difficult to believe.... that too on daily basis. btw, did you notice your quoted text..."1,000 push-ups a day or 2,000 sit-ups a day" Now, that should be manageable - split across multiple sessions.

No way anyone can do that much in one session. He has to be super human. I can believe him doing 100 per set.

Frankly thats not that far fetched. When 2008 Olympics were ongoing, I was stuck in a far location Extended Stay and my regime was 500 pushups as I watched the 4 hour NBC special. That was all I did over 4 hours and perhaps 10-20 sets depending on how tired I was. Didnt like it though, takes heavy toll on your, atleast mine, elbow.
