:hysterical::hysterical: How long does it take to change the time and date settings on a camcorder?
the same thing i heard on some pakistan channel this morning on PP .

The NOTW is scum but they arent going to record the videos after the event has happened and claim it was on the eve of the test. That would be ridiculous. They HAD to wait until sat to show it because the paper is out on sunday and it would sell more.

if that newspaper wanted to clear any doubts why didn't they have date and time stamps for recordings that would have given lot of credibility to them and leave no room for any ambiguity' date=' how do we know that those recordings are not after actual events just playing devil advocate.[/quote'] the newspaper does not need to clear any doubts to the general public, at least not now when the investigation is ongoing. they would have slippped a copy to scotland yard "before" the match was played. Do you think Scotland Yard is dumb enough not to ask for proof before involving dozens of there officers on a wild goose chase? That 15 year old fans of websites are much more clever than scotland yard who wouldnt ask this basic question to NOTW, i.e. prove the authenticity of the tape? Plus this guy Majeed had been the player's agent for years. Why would he go suddenly against them, risking his own career and possible imprisonment to willingly star in a video by NOTW?

Well notow got wat dey wanted and it was TRP FOR WEBSITE AND OTHER BS and since it was allegation and other bs on our cricketer and nothing proved so now i fully support them...

TNOTW can pay all the fines in the world. The owner of TNOTW owns many of the major News Papers and TV networks in OZ, USA, UK and Asia e.i. Sky network in the UK and Fox network in the USA.

Does it really matter if they recorded the video before or later or whatever. The fixer was mates with the Pakistan team and why would he ditch them? Moreover the previous night he was seen exchanging jacket with the Pakistani players, how about that? Afridi said he knew about this all along... anymore evidence required for the followers of the game. I'm glad I'm not Pakistan cricket fan or follower. Even if India were in a similar situation I would still end up not wasting my time watching cricket. I have decided and will not watch Pakistan cricket anymore unless ICC/PCB do the right thing and ban the players that are guilty. Even if Wasim Akram makes a come back I won't change my stance :((

Oh man, I think you have been spending too much time on PP - video made after the match! :hysterical: So, you think Mazhar, who is the agent of the said players will conspire with NOTW to stage a video? And even if that were the case, wouldn't he or NOTW inform Scotland Yard of that fact when they arrested him? He is on the verge of being charged with money laundering cases and he or NOTW will still not inform the police that it was a hoax? It's one thing to be skeptical, another to buy into any old conspiracy theory that floats around! That you don't see any reason for inaction from the PCB except that they are genuinely investigating the case shows how naive you are. You are talking about a board which has refused to take action against it's players down the years for all kinds of cheating, drugs, and fixing.
What is PP? I am not saying anything. I am just stating what was mentioned in that article. The only difference is that your mind is already made up as are a lot of others'. I am just sitting back and waiting.

:hysterical: What can you even say in response to such deluded statements?
Well, what if it was proved that the video time and date was actually after the happening?
Yes, there are various levels in between and there is difference according to the laws of a given country, because it just depends on how any scandal was revealed. The law is there to see if something illegal was done or not, and how is it decided if something is illegal? It depends on the tolerance of a society and the levels of immorality involved. In direct relation to the ongoing accusations, the bookie would have had to actually place a bet to make it illegal. So legally he might not be accountable because he was in the initial phase of his misdoings. If NOTW would have waited for some more time, it's possible that they would have had more evidence just enough for the law to take its course. My thinking is that it was imperative for the tabloid to expose this during a ongoing tour and not wait longer, so as to generate more interest coz people were actually following and watching the test series...thus generating more newspaper sales and publicity. Now let's look at another angle. In cases of pedophilia, the federal law in US can convict if one has shown intentions to do it even though the actual act did not take place as they were caught by the media before something illegal was done. Undercover FBI agents and the media (eg. Dateline) routinely do entrapment cases. In a similar way, NOTW has done entrapment and exposed the alleged players before something more serious would have happened - like match fixing in the ODI series. Intention to engage in such activities was already shown by the players and they did bowl no balls under the direction of the bookie. The video footage clearly establishes this. Now if the video is real or not... that will have to be seen as further investigations are being done. In the case of Azhar, Jadeja, etc..there were clear intentions. BCCI set a precedent and by punishing the players they gave us a message of "zero tolerance". PCB has failed to do that in the past and today the result is in front of everyone to see.
Tidigi - that was a well considered post. I came from an entirely different angle. There are only two sets of laws which are relevant here. The law of the land - in this case, England - and the laws of the game. If the players are not guilty of wrongdoing by either law, then they are not guilty. So, even if legally there could be no case built against them, but they are proven to have had malafide intentions violating the spirit of the game and proven to have wilfully given away no-balls, then they have to be punished. And punished heavily. There is no doubt about that in my mind at all.

Hello everybody, I am new here though I have been lurking around a bit. I finally joned because I think this is a wonderful place to discuss cricket and share feelings on the subject. Right now, I am really really pissed off with the latest news that these guys may get away (or at best, with a slap on their wrists) because of "insufficient evidence". WTF? What more evidence do these guys need? So, NOTW did not actually bet but so what? It is clear that what these guys did was everything that is against the sport. They have made a joke of the sport, of the spectators, their fans, their country. And they could be getting away scotfree? I feel sick!!! This is a bigger slap (that the investigating authorities, together with ICC/ACSU) are giving me than even the players. From PCB and Pakistani players, you don't expect much in the way of integrity anyway. I was not really surprised when I heard the news of the fixing a few days back. I am deeply, deeply disappointed by ICC, ACSU, Scotland Yard. Everybody is hiding behind some law or protocol. The game is going to the dogs - and these are the guys who are as much to blame as anybody else. What has ACSU done in all these years? It took a tabloid paper to uncover this scandal. And now people are having a go at NOTW just because it has an image of being a tabloid? If that is the case, anyday give me a 100 NOTW sting operations like this one to an "oh-so-propah", "we follow only time-tested and Buckingham-Palace-approved methods of journalism even if we do not ever report on any of the stench that comes out of every gutter in society". Sorry, guys, got a bit carried away here - that too on my first post - but it really sucks that we have video evidence here and still people are questioning NOTW and potentially allowing these crooks to get away scotfree. I feel sick!

Seriously if Scotland Yard cant prove anything.....do we really think ICC will prove anything? The thing is Aamer took a whopping 6 wickets during that innings of the 'spot fixing' no-ball, now does that aid or go against his defence? He could have been simply told to bowl a no-ball by Butt on the field 2mins before, just out of random by captains orders. And Aamer didnt question it. Aamer not knowing the story behind the fiasco made the no-ball look too obvious by bowling a good foot over the line. If Aamer knew what was happening, he would have at least slightly concealed it.:dontknow: Im not defending anyone........but I think guys like Aamer and Asif got baited into this drama and are facing the music because of Salman Butt. Since it seems that the only close relationship Eminem had was only with Salman Butt and he could be trusted.

SY have been put put under pressure by Brit Govt not to pursue the pakis. As pak govt has put pressure on brit govt to drop any charges as they want pak players cleared or have threatned to not help more on war on terror. I have absolutley no proof of this conspiracy theory at all. Just thought of it now and typed it out , just shows how easy it is to come up with a conspiracy theory. But as I have now typed it and put it on the internet it now means it is true and has real substance!

But the truth is SY has actually recordings of Amir talking with the bookie late at night anfd multiple times

Looks like Butt, Amir and Asif have been withdrawn from the T20 and ODI squads. Indian news channels quoting Sky news on that. PCB likely to call for replacements. SY does look to have a solid case, lack of evidence and all that crap may just be a rumour spread by the PR agency hired by the PCB.
