Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, is in India to meet ICC chief Sharad Pawar, Cricinfo has learnt. While an official statement on his visit is awaited, it is understood that they will discuss the spot-fixing controversy, the resumption of bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan and issues related to World Cup revenues. Butt checked into a New Delhi hotel on Wednesday evening and is waiting to meet Pawar, who has been involved in a high-level meeting of national political parties on the Kashmir issue. Butt's visit comes in the wake of the spot-fixing scandal, in which four Pakistani players have been questioned by Scotland Yard and three of them - Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt - have been suspended by the ICC. Source - Cricinfo --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you think the players will get away?

I doubt that will happen. The crowd WILL NOT WATCH the Pakistani's playing here and will absolutely NOT TOLERATE our players going to Pakistan. Financially, it would be doom for BCCI. Hence I don't see this happening. Don't worry Mamu. The closest they're going to come is playing a Tri-series in Lanka or England.

Why even entertain Ijaz But in the 1st place ? Why entertain somebody who you know is from a criminal nation whose cricketers have just been caught naked in the neighbors bedroom? What kind of a message are you sending as a ICC Chairman? Here is a country that has been shunned and is being treated like a dog by the whole world -- but you want to talk to him over a cup of tea ? Why Why Why ??? If Ijaz Butt had something to say why -- does he not just bring it up in ICC meetings where everybody else is present, why does it have to be one on one?

I think Ijaz has come over for meeting the ICC President with or without invitation. Doesn't seem to be a formal meeting with mutual consent. Its like your friend dropping down to your place to have a talk with you. His arrival seems to be a desperate measure to try and play tricks on Mr.Pawar to save the players. The ICC President is the master of this trade so I wouldn't worry much.

Exactly my point. Why do you want to entertain him? Sharad Pawar should have asked him to feck off. Simple as that. Tomorrow if the players are let go -- even India will be blamed as being part of the whole clandestine affair along with that *****y nation, which is what I don't want to see. It is time all the countries came hard on Pakistan and ask it clean its mess, before moving ahead with it.

This is not good..Very clever move by Pakistan..On one hand their HC was blaming ICC, BCCI and Pawar and on the other hand they've sent a poodle to meet that corrupt Pawar in a clear intention to involve India in Pak's NaPak methods.. Whatever happens, Pak can easily blame India, BCCI & Pawar, either way..They can now even claim that India doesn't wants Pakistan to play cricket..

sharad pawar is the type of person who can sell his family for profits, paise and power.... what do you expect? Ijaz butt could have met him in ICC office at Dubai...why come to India?

I know. Don't worry. The ICC Prez tackled John Howard with shrewdness par excellence. This is Ijaz Butt and he's horribly in the wrong. The Prez knows when and whom to put his weight behind. The meet is going to be inconsequential. Don't worry. Even if it does lead to some alarming statements, be rest assured... nothing will happen. Only a fool will bail them out this time.

Pak has already blamed India for corrupting its players so nothing is going to stop them from blaming us for anything and everything in future. Bilateral series is out of question; pawar is a politician before ICC chief ; shiv sena , MNS , BJP will wipe him out if he arranges a series with Pak. As far as pak players go i really hope all 7 get a clean chit; i want these fixers to continue playing for Pak , nothing more satisfying than seeing Pak cricket on self destruction mode.

Fixing investigation could end soon - Pawar Cricinfo staff September 16, 2010 Sharad Pawar, the ICC president, has said the Scotland Yard investigation into the charges against three suspended Pakistan players is likely to end soon, and the suspension will be reviewed at that point. Pawar was speaking after a meeting at his New Delhi residence with the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt, who said he had not made any demand for leniency for the players. "As far as we are concerned, there is no tolerance at all", Butt said.

Saw a clip of i-Butt's interview with Barkha Dutt..So much of BS was coming out of his mouth. When Barkha referred to Afretard's recent claim that "lot's of unwanted elements have been getting access in and around the team..", i-Butt blurted out a threat that Afretard could be sacked for saying this.. When Barkha kept on pushing him in his threat of sacking Afretard, i-Butt said he was Joking!! PCB is in a cover up mode and it will silence anybody who says something damaging. I'm pretty sure PCB officials are involved in this Spot Fixing issue..

Has the ICC President pwned Ijaz? :hmmm:
Y does PCB keep saying innocent until proven guilty ? i mean how much evidence do they need do u think the video and dated receipts are not enough to punish the trio.

It is very difficult to prove everything even if they did it as there are lots of loopholes in the law. The Pakistan trio might escape from the punishment. Who might know? Anything can happen

Hope the trio escape punishment and continue the 'good work' they were doing in the Pak team..
I seriously think ICC is just dragging this i mean they got the evidence they got the proofs in form of dated receipts notes txt messages and what more even azhar jadeja prabhakar case didnt have this much evidence i seriously think the trio shud be given life bans no double standards shud be applied.
