achilles Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Yeah' date=' go ahead and make fun of science in the safety of numbers that if I start making fun of your religion you and your bunch of fundoo fanatics will come, cry, and whine about moderation and 'sentiments being hurt'. Mob mentality morons![/quote'] Yes. Says the girl who cried in not one but three threads and continues to do so. I'm yet to come across any user on any forum who refers to Lord Hanuman as a Flying Monkey only to prove his/her point right. And then when people obviously revolt against that humiliating insult to the God most of us believe in, you call them morons. Very intelligent!

I'm yet to come across any user on any forum who refers to Lord Hanuman as a Flying Monkey only to prove his/her point right. And then when people obviously revolt against that humiliating insult to the God most of us believe in, you call them morons. Very intelligent! I cried? Yeah right, morons from your brigade, not only cried, but opened new threads to have a go at me. I wouldn't have even bothered responding to them as a regular poster, but for the reason that they always bring in 'biased moderation' as their agenda - in which case I put forth the arguments from the admin/mod side. But here is a little something - I am giving up my moderation rights on anything but the Cricket Talk and Cricket Articles forum so I can put clowns like you in their place without being accused of hiding behind moderation/admin rights.
yoda Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 feck SRT's captaining. this is more interesting....a mod crying cause he decided to give up his moderation rights in response to being called out after mocking Hindu gods on a forum where religion is off topic, while his mod buddy conveniently closed the thread right after his post ridiculing Ram and Hanuman.

Yeah? The Quran seems to be in the center of a discussion lasting months and hundreds of posts in that very same forum. Where is your outrage against discussing religions regarding that? And, yeah...... I clarified with the mod who locked the thread after my post. He locked it for the precise reason that it was moving towards a religious discussion. Nothing to do with me having the last word, a sentiment if you actually cared about, you would have edited/deleted your thread after I retracted my post. But all those things are bygones - I'll meet lunatics like you and your ilk without any moderation rights in those forums and let's see how long you can stand up against logic without your r.undi rona of mods abusing powers (which BTW forget about using or abusing, I can't even remember the last time I edited/deleted/closed a post/thread in the Politics forum).

Nothing to do with me having the last word, a sentiment if you actually cared about, you would have edited/deleted your thread after I retracted my post. I don't have rights to delete threads. Didn't think we had. And that thread's purpose was to notify and I said feel free to delete it right in that thread. I am sure you will find plenty of company to have gutter level discussions there with your usual crowd. :winky:

mastana Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 This team would have been sh!t if not for Pollard's late over smashes and Tendu's good form at the top in IPL I can't believe this guy Bhajji still commands # 1 spinner position in the national team....he has forgotten how to bat, can't bowl doosra s properly...looks like the only way to get any performance out of him is by calling him names...kinda like enraging the bull with the red handkerchief He is working for ACSU thats why he is in the team. Because he can slap bookies thereby keeping all the bookies away from whichever team he plays for.
The Outsider Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 If bygones are bygones, what's the point of ranting about that thread here and what's the purpose of bringing the talk down to gutter level? Ram Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 The usual right-wing hypocrisy at work; If a thread that contains Islam bashing is locked, then everyone’s up in arms about freedom of speech and this and that… When the tables are turned and the same standard is applied for a thread that contains sentiments expressed against Hinduism, then the Mods closed it because they want it to be the last word.. WTF! :haha:
f.b.m Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I really dont get the taboo on religion on this forum. Why should anyone give a toss about "feelings being hurt" about their religion? And if there is religious bigotry and hatred, what does anyone gain by hiding it and pretending it doesnt exist?

WTF! :haha: So sriram, tit for tat is your answer for that?? I know some members do use strong language and put their views on Islam in extreme ways. Some of it is really OTT but does that give this so call proff to talk anything of Lord Hanuman or any one at all. How can he prove himself different from these right-wing people. TO me they both appear same now. As long as MODs dont understand that they have greater responsibility to not to put things in a wrong way, things are not going to improve. While I can agree with many of your views to bring down these strong attacks on one religion from few of our posters, it is hard to believe that you go on to suppport some one for the same mistake just because he is another MOD or he eventually helped you attack the right wingers as a part of your duties. If Outsider has accepted that he has gone OTT with this comment then I think everything should be fine. BTW, Sri and Shwet, you guys are doing fine job and no body can take away that from you.

For once, it is SOOOOOO relieving to hear a sane voice..! :icflove: Dial, If you havent noticed already, I have not taken a stand for or against anyone or anything. Even though I myself am a non-believer, I understand that religion/belief is a sensitive topic for many here and we have to be careful of what we say. In that aspect, I don’t condone Shwetabh’s comments against Hinduism. I thought they were in poor taste. But let me also add that Shwetabh probably said what he said from the perspective of someone who values science/evidence over beliefs and superstition. I don’t think he ever meant in an insulting manner. You must also understand that some of us are as passionate about the science/truth as you guys are about belief and religion. But you see whats happening here right? I have closed numerous threads when the usual suspects went on their usual Islam rampage. That was bad because we were supposedly impinging on their ‘freedom of speech..’(freedom to hate, more like..) But when I did the same when sentiments were expressed against Hinduism, there are people here who accuse the Mod team to be anti-Hindu. You can be reasonable with reasonable people, but when people are willfully disingenuous and duplicit, there’s nothing much you can do about it.
Ram Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 :hysterical: Phir se vahi chootiaps ? :finger: Dude, you’re talking with someone who is on record saying ‘Its not funny when people get offended..’ . that’s probably the stupidest statement ever made in the history of mankind..! This guy’s a professional ‘offenderer’.. He trolls the board, looking for things to be offended with. :hysterical:
yoda Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 a thread about another thread takes it own life, only on ICF. :giggle:

Honestly, on the side note, even I have no problems with their intentions, it is just the way they express it. Shwet, thanks for the link. I probably missed that post of yours.

The Outsider Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Even though I have always supported Outsider's view against right-wingers' date=' it was quite pathetic of Outsider to use name-calling ... I respect atheists but that doesn't mean they have the right to disrespect any religion[/quote'] I don't know why this issue is being dragged to the death, despite so many clarifications. I'll summarize one final time for whoever is interested in understanding rather than mudslinging : 1. There was a post by achilles implicitly stating that science has proved the existence of Ram because in his mind there is a 'consensus' that Ram existed. 2. I took exception to that post and asked him in a caustic manner whether he also believes in some of the other stuff stated in the Ramayan, which does not adhere to any science we know of or are likely to come across in the future, and at the very least in our life times. 3. One of the moderators saw my post as being too religious and in conflict with the board policy, and locked the thread, just as many other threads have been locked when discussions go into criticizing some other religion. 4. yoda opened a new thread with the conspiracy theory that I had locked the thread after posting my remark to have the final word. Even after explaining to him that it wasn't me who locked the thread, he was adamant that the moderators want to have the final word. I deleted my original post stating clearly that since the thread is locked and people can't reply to my post there, it is unfair for that post to stand. yoda did not edit his thread and my supposedly offensive post still remains on this board discussed over a thread lasting close to 100 replies. 5. In a cricket thread about Tendulkar's captaincy, achilles brought up the previous episode with reference to science which was finally moved here, leading to another thread on this. 6. As stated previously I was not moderating these forums anyways, so the point about me taking an advantage of my moderation rights is a non starter, but even so I've given up all my moderation rights on every forum except Cricket Talk and Articles (I will likely follow suit there soon as well), so at least the moaning and whining about moderators abusing their powers can stop - it's not good for the site. Adios!
