fineleg Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 5 main players in our squad struggling with coming back from injury and/or not much time to gain form in long format. Gambhir, Zaheer, Bhajji, Yuvi, Dravid (Dravid looked somewhat ok in SL, but could not get a big inn. I have him last in the list because he will probably be ok with gaining form) These guys are main folks for the series (yuvi will be in the 14) - so seems to be a worry esp. Gambhir, Zak and Bhajji need to click well. 2 Test series means we cannot afford our batsmen or bowlers time to have a bad first Test. Should GG play the warmup match to get 'warmed' up? I don't think he is in that warmup squad?
The Outsider Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Should GG play the warmup match to get 'warmed' up? I don't think he is in that warmup squad? He is the captain. :poink: fineleg might not post as often as she used to, but never fails to give the fineleg moments whenever she does.
fineleg Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 LOL Shwetabh! Sorry, I had forgotten that squad. Good, glad to hear that he is there. I really hope that these 5 get into good form soon.
saneindian Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 For those not playing the CL(Viru, Gambhir, VVS, Yuvi, Ishant, Sreesanth, Mishra, Ojha etc), we definitely need a week long conditioning camp.
IKnowU Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Why is waterboy being considered ahead of Raina? :hmmm:
cowboysfan Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Why is waterboy being considered ahead of Raina? :hmmm: he is not,i dont think he should even be in the squad.
diegovegaz Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 i'm confident that gauti and dravid will perform well in the upcoming series gambhir's had a good break, he should do well dravid will be coming into the series with some cricket under his belt i'm not sure whether dhoni baba will take yuvi ahead of raina in the 11 zak n bhajji should not be playing, they are woefully out of form but ofcourse, our selectors and dhoni himself will be calling them spearheads i'd rather have mithun, munaf and ashwin
ZodiaC Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I predict a comfortable 2-0 or at worst 1-0 win for us. Great chance for Raina to cement his place as well. I'd for sure play Bhajji, we don't want Bhajji bunny to score some freebies :punter: 2nd spinner I'd go for Amit.
putrevus Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Bhajji is the greatest worry among all of them he was out bowled even by Guyanese spinners yesterday, he is falling in Irfan Pathan's category which not accepting that you are performing badly and living in denial. He needs to be given a shock treatment, when Sehwag can be dropped why cant Bhajji be dropped from the side.
jaggadaku Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Gauti will be fine, he always performs well against Australia and Pakistan for some reason
Chandan Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Dravid looked out of sorts too, today when he could score just 4 runs in 11 balls vs Redbacks and didn't hit any stroke of authority.
fineleg Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Dravid looked out of sorts too' date=' today when he could score just 4 runs in 11 balls vs Redbacks and didn't hit any stroke of authority.[/quote'] Yes, he didn't look good :( I still hope somehow RD and GG hit form. Not sure if CL 20-20 is the best prep for Aus Test series but that's what RD has. Zak and Bhajji are bigger worries, they seems to be a pale shadow of their best. Raina will play ahead of Yuvi? (depends on dhoni & gary). But still if Yuvi is backup in 13/14 - then any other batsman gets a niggle, backup should be in good form! I hope someone else is in squad instead of Yuvi [for Tests]

Have you seen Yuvi bat recently and are convinced that he is broken beyond repair? Zak and Bhajji will take time as they are coming back from injuries. But Dravid had no injuries. So his case is more confusing. Anyway, Mumbai Indians are returning earlier. So. Bhajji and Zaheer will get rest and practise in nets too.

Gambhir doesnt have an adequate replacement at the moment, and he played really well for a prolonged period before he hit a rough patch, so he also should be persisted with. Zak will automatically enter the squad as he is the senior player. we hope he regains his touch before the test match starts. Bhajji needs mental conditioning, all his problems are inside his head. he needs to flight the ball more instead of firing flat deliveries...
UmarAkmal Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Gauti will be fine' date=' [b']he always performs well against Australia and Pakistan for some reason Gambheer averages 26 against Pakistan. http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/28763.html?class=1;opposition=7;template=results;type=allround
Ravi. Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 We are very weak in bowling department and our selectors will take idiotic decisions as always by picking Mithun, Ishant and Mishra.
