Ram Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Yeah' date=' my entire point has addressed Kohli. Yuvraj named and shamed two people in his interview - Kohli and Sharma. Sharma, I would grant given the weight he has put on, his inconsistent performances, no statements of great praise about his work ethics from people as eminent as Dravid and Kumble. Stopped reading right there. If you cannot see a casual off-the-cuff remark that for what is is, that ends the conversation right there! .. 'Professional jealousy... '', Named and shamed..' WTF! P.S; BREAKING NEWS - In a sudden and shocking development, Virat and Kohli and have been dropped from the list of contracted players. BCCI officials said the measure has been taken off the back of the scathing assessment of the two players by Yuvraj in an earlier interview, where he 'NAMED AND SHAMED' them.. :winky:
ludhianvi Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Strange that you find Porky's name calling of Kohli' date=' perfectly fine and are objecting to some random person on the internet calling him Porky?:winky:[/quote'] Chalo jo bolna hai boltey jao as long as the same is applicable to others as well. Btw,Kohli himself acknowledged all that in an interview a while back but he said that he's learnt from his mistakes. But are you really so random guy on the net? I mean I seem to know your name and what you do and spend a fair amount of time on ICF. :hmmm: Anyhow ciao

rkt.india Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I'm not defending the bowlers antics, but if they do feel they're bowling well i.e. good rhythm, control and speeds, whats the need to keep bowling in nets? You mentioned fitness and injury. The fitness is something that should be dealt with in the gym and who's to say a bowler won't get injured while bowling in the nets? I agree being a bowler requires a lot of hard work. But is it necessary to bowl a ton of deliveries every nets session? Net practice is not to bowl to the batsman, it increases the stamina of the bowler too, to bowl long spells, if bowler does not bowl in nets a lot, he wont be able to develop the stamina needs to bowl in test matches. You can bowl in T20 without much bowling in the nets, but for test bowler, he certainly needs to develop the stamina. you are talking inuries occur in nets, if a bowler does not warm up well or he had some niggle before the nets, he will certainly develop injuries and some accidental injuries can also occur, but continuous net bowling also helps in developing the muscles, bones, and whole body to get used the bowling. If a bowler is not used to bowling a lot of deliveries in the nets, his body can become stiff towards bowling...net is all about making the body and mind used to towards bowling..... continuous bowling in the nets keep your action and rhythm intact. Indian bowlers after coming into the team do not practice much that is why they so easily lose their actions and run ups...
Fontaine Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 It's NOT just about net sessions. It's about dedication and the desire to get better and that extends to everything you do, in almost every waking hour. Bowling, and bowling well isn't just about talent or luck. There is a vast chasm of difference between talented bowlers who never made it and talented bowlers who through years of determination and dedication got every bit of talent out into performance. Yes, it's what you do in net sessions, yes it has to do with how you prepare your body even when you're not playing in a series/tournament. It's about doing everything physically and mentally possible to be as sharp and fine tuned as possible the minute you bowl your first over. 90% of bowling isn't what you do on the pitch. It's about what you do OFF the pitch. When no one is watching, no one there to applaud and cheer but your own damn self. And in that regard when THREE different bowling coaches (Donald, Wasim, Prasad) question the habits of our bowlers then it's NOT media spin, or knee jerk reaction. It's as uncomfortabley close to the sad truth you're going to get. I used to do a lot of rowing when I was younger (still do somewhat) and the difference between showing up and just working well and working hard is astronomical! You can work well for months and get to a certain performance level and get by but you literally had to bleed, sweat and work your guts out just to gain that extra 10% in your performance. That's the difference between mediocrity and excellence. If a ordinary person like me knows this, has experienced this, then truely, it's boggles my mind that professional cricketers who have the world at their feet struggle to even work well. That's why I'm pissed off!
