A certain Rahul Dravid who was doing very well in domestic cricket had similar failures against the West Indians playing for BP 11 in 1994. Questions were raised on his ability to play genuine pace. http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/59/59670.html Next year, playing for the same BP 11 vs the Kiwis, Dravid scored 145* and never looked back. http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/61/61159.html Lets not write off Pujara after one failure.
I think Rahul Dravid is one of the best cricketers of this generation. And Che Pujara will be the greatest of the next.

That is a very TALL claim. He might turn out be one amongst the top, but the Greatest, I doubt.

Why drag Raina? He has done well in whatever chances he got. right about Jadoo
Raina, like every youngster during Greg Chappell's time, was given a lot of opportunities and see where he is today.

You always have something to complain about Raina' date=' Dhoni, Ashwin, MVijay, , Srikanth, etc. blah blah...[/quote'] Don't take the comments with a pinch of salt. What Raina has achieved is phenomenal. Not even he could have imagined that he would replace Yuvraj Singh someday and play in Tests despite having a suspect technique against the short ball. He is a regular in our ODI team and a star in his own right. And how old is he? Less than 25. Che Pujara could be another star for us. He deserves his chances.

there you go. pujara scores a neat fifty, rahane hammers a ton at run a ball. that's more like t. talentless mitchell 'i will hustle indian batsmen with the short ball mate' johnson got smacked around in his 9 overs. sign of things to come. i look forward to reading the reports. any more questions? bring on the first test.

huh? what does that even mean? Cheteshwar Pujara deserves his chances, agreed, but why do you need to bring in Raina in every argument for it? and frankly I don't understand why you keep on harping about Raina's percieved weakness to short pitch as if that is the only criteria to succeed in cricket. Cheteswar Pujara for all his talent will bring along his own share of weakness, he is not going to be perfect. So stop keeping on comparing the two, Raina startd playing before Pujara, hence he got his chances earlier and he has grabbed it so far. Pujara will get his chance whe he has to and if he is as good as you keep on saying he will also grab his chances.

Read my post again. I am appreciating him as no matter what the grouse with him, he has overcomed his problems to become a star today at the young age of 23. If you want to think that my post was a dig at Raina, I give up. Pujara has done a phenomenal job in the domestic circuit and barged his way through on the basis of this. These are the words of the selectors. I hope he gets his chances.

I'm sure he'll be making selectors rattle their brains if he has a good season. Problem of plenty is such a welcome headache.

Pujara?yes his average is bloated by the fact that he plays on dead Rajkot track.thats why I am surprised hes picked over Rahane n Kohli
