He participated in the India/Pak wars of 1965/1971 ---- For that at least, RESPECT. Did anyone notice the badges/medals he wore to the ceremony yesterday ? ViruRulez Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I have great respect for our security forces but then they are not flawless too.. many army officers and jawans etc. have been found guilty of both corruption as well as crimes against humanity in the past .. so I would respect him for fighting in the wars but then I would also criticize for the corruption .. state police forces are highly corrupt and I have also seen the open corruption and asking for bribe by state police .. not to mention that every few days we hear about policemen also doing crime against humanity like they raped and killed one of their female colleague/jawan in the police station a few days back for which there was such an uproar... national security forces like Army, Air Force, CRPF etc. are a lot less corrupt and less involved in crime against humanity but they are not flawless too and have been found guilty in several cases .. I wont simply turn a blind eye for a person being in the army or security force

Respect to him for serving the country but I find it weird that he wore the badges during the opening ceremony. It's like he wanted to send a message that hey ignore my corruption..I haz been an air force officer. I don't know may be it's customary to wear the badges for occasions like that. Is it?

It is shameful that this corrupt man should be allowed to flaunt his service medals like this.BTW...service medals do not indicate that he did something spectacular .Most of these medals indicate your years of service and not your devotion or even bravery.Some medals are for servicing in some regions. I bet the Airforce is not too proud of him and many must be cringing watching him. It is not customary to wear them at such occasion but it is also not against the law.

You really think his flaunting the medals now has nothng to do with his getting all this attention for corruption,nepotism .His using them like this is almost like abusing them.

I agree but credit where its due, he's within his rights to flaunt them because he earned them. At the same time, its not uncommon for people with the background he comes from to flaunt their medals like that, especially on 'big' occasions.
