But he fell to fifth because both Sehwag and Amla did so well that they moved ahead of Mahela and Sanga too.

ICC ranking has done a research and calculated how many tests he was at no.1 spot. Not from this graph.

That's not possible. If you look at that graph, the last time Sachin was top of the pile was on 22 Aug 2002, versus England at Leeds. That was his 99th Test. He hasn't been number one since. Hence, 125 Tests is a wild overestimate. Probably the erroneous blog article being quoted by the Indian newspaper.

Probably he meant top 10 rankings. I am not sure what he means by "top of the pile" then.

Maximum for sehwag so far was 2 until now. It was back in 2004. Considering he was ranked 32nd in 2008 it is a phenomenal progress.
