This subjugation of all other viewpoints to an economic one is deeply flawed. This is as short sighted as the chinese view that economic progress is more important than democracy and personal freedom. I don't subscribet to religion but neither do I subscribe to this view.
I did not say economic progress is the only important focus. I said things like economic focus is way more important than religion in the mind of most Indians. And there are many other things which come in between

No wonder Wakf board and other Islamic boards accepted babri verdict and now moving on.
But isnt reliigon thier bread and butter just like it is for the sadhus and mahants? They will like to be in a state of power and claim victory and gain milegae. I am talking about the common people of India

You mean Rahul baba too is far from reality in making those comments instead of making comments on economy' date=' job, telecom scams etc? Was Rahul baba making those comments for those people who live outside?Actually you guys are far from reality, even while living in India. In your zeal to be just concerned about "your" economic progress, you allow these politicians and wannabes (8th class fail) to become Prime Minister by taking the gullible masses on a ride..[/quote'] I do not endorse Rahul on this(politicization of religion) though I do not condone organistaions like VHP and RSS. and the reason I dont support themis because its my own religion and I somehow feel responsible for their views on it

I am not sure that taking the name of RSS and VHP in the same breathe is fair. I think this nonsense of considering RSS, VHP and Bajrang dal as similar organisations started in the late 90s and nothing can be further from the truth. The RSS is an organisation which is based on a thought process, philosophy and way of life whereas VHP and BD are not. The latter two organisations are violent, fundamentalist and militant. Such a claim cannot be made of the RSS atleast in my opinion. Politicians and the media in India started equating the three so that they could balance them against organisations such as SIMI etc. It provides a larger and softer target if you equate the three.

MTC, your argument here is absolutely valid. Just like the catholic church sought to influence politics using religion which had a mass appeal so too is the endeavour of these other organisations. The moment the state and religion collide its always only a few who are left who can make the distinction between the two and point out the unfairness of it. It is of no surprise in a country like India with such a large illiterate and semi-literate population that the politicians can use the political stage for spouting religious dogma and populism.

Thanks for the correction, you are right, I shouldnt have included RSS there

100% approve of that. RSS needs a good PR guy to work on its image.

Actually they don't. RSS is neither for the mob nor for the masses. It is an organisation which draws from its own intellectual's pool of thoughts. Thos who want to contribute shall. This is the very essence of hinduism, it has never been about advertising or prosletyzation. Those who want to be a part are welcome. That's it.

Rahul Gandhi's growing confidence and leverage can be gauged from the fact that he has taken the RSS head-on and even defended his statements, while the opposition was crying foul. If people can make hate speeches with impunity and demolish structures THEY don't like, I can't understand what the furore is all about. He has simply stated his opinion. He hasn't gone to town beating up people who don't agree with him and trying to force their religion on others.

Lets just be magnanimous to this moron and say that: SIMI is NOT the same as the Congress, because SIMI is not as corrupt as the Congress.

I don't think that view has anything to do with the RSS, that's the view of SS and MNS or whatever. The RSS has always advocated inclusiveness albeit among hindus. PS: I will put it to the admins MTC, I am not sure I have the "superpowers" necessary to do it. :D

Stupid of me, I knew all along the RSS is the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as opposed to shiv sena but along the thread I was using RSS for Shiv sena

All top brass VHP, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena leaders are RSS members. The likes of Togadia started off as RSS members. RSS has been the breeding ground of the who is who of Hindu fundamentalists.

Cant be a bigger feather than allowing 10 pakistanis to come in a boat from Karachi to slaughter 160 Indians in Mumbai. Btw, the RSS functionary has not been made an accused in the chargesheet.
Or escorting terrorists under state security to another country after the hijacked airplane was parked on Indian soil. See, it's quite easy to throw red herrings.

Or surrendering strategic advantage gained by the blood of Indian soldiers in Kashmir in 1948 and to go to UN pledging a plebiscite .. Or giving up the strategic advantage to 90,000 captured pakistani soldiers in 1971 without so much as a written settlement of Kashmir for which the country still suffers .. The real red herring is naming an RSS man in the chargesheet but not making him an accused, to divert attention from the skeletons tumbling daily out of its CWG scam closet.
