ravishingravi Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Retard speaks out his @#$ again "RSS is as fanatical as SIMI: Rahul NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi took a direct shot at the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) by calling it a fanatical organisation like the banned Students Islamic Movement (SIMI). Mr Gandhi, addressing the media in Bhopal, said he felt there was not much difference between SIMI and RSS, as both were "fanatical" and held "fundamentalist" views. On told that he had made a controversial statement equating the two groups, Mr Gandhi said he failed to see any controversy in it. When pointed out that SIMI was a proscribed outfit, which was not the case with RSS, Mr Gandhi said that this did not matter much as far as he was concerned. "I know only that both SIMI and RSS are fanatical and hold fundamentalist views," he asserted. The AICC general secretary's remarks invited angry reactions from RSS and BJP, with the former advising Mr Gandhi that "knowledge of organisations functioning within the country was as essential as understanding of Italy and Columbia." BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar went a step further, and contended that "only mentally disabled people can compare SIMI with RSS. SIMI is a terrorist outfit." "People who make such utterances have to first understand India and Indian society well. It's not enough to know only Italy and Colombia," RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said, adding, "he should brush up his knowledge before making meaningless statements. He should know the difference between RSS and banned outfits and know the history of Congress, which has been accused of fundamentalism in the last six decades.'' After the Sangh Parivar's scathing attack, Congress upped the ante. "We believe that any comment made by any political party or organisation should be replied to in a civilised manner," party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said. Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh was, however, more direct and trenchant in his attack on the Sangh Parivar. "I don't want to give any credence to what Mr Ram Madhav says. What is his credibility can be gauged by the fact that when RSS activists were attacking a TV channel's office, he was on television saying there has been no attack and everything is peaceful. There is no need to give importance to what Mr Ram Madhav says," Mr Singh said. He counted a number of members of Hindu fundamentalist organisations who have been recently arrested for involvement in various acts of terror. "Will they (RSS) deny that Colonel Purohit, Devender Gupta (allegedly involved in Ajmer attack), Sunil Joshi, Sunil Dange are not members of RSS," Mr Singh asked. Reacting sharply to RSS spokesman's remarks that Mr Gandhi should know the history of Congress, Mr Singh said, "Mr Ram Madhav needs to know the history of Congress. Congress has always fought Hindu and Muslim fundamentalist forces together. Before Independence, when RSS was supporting the British and Mohammed Ali Jinnah was talking about Pakistan, Congress was fighting both of them. So the issue at hand is religious fundamentalism. Mr Madhav should not divert attention by talking about irrelevant issues." http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics/nation/RSS-is-as-fanatical-as-SIMI-Rahul/articleshow/6703289.cms
someone Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 First thing, he is comparing RSS to simi which is terrorist organization. WOW, I am surprised no one commented on that. Wonder if he would say anything like that to the Wakf board. Suddenly, it becomes their right to be a "Muslim" party and right to go for the appeal as Muslims are only leaving in hostile in the whole of India.

yoda Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Well I am not a big of the RSS and their own military style brigades and what not. It does feel a bit extreme to me. May be folks who know them better can explain what exactly is the purpose of the RSS and what these guys in khakhi shorts do, especially with their extra long sticks? Yes the comparison with Simi doesn't even begin to make sense, but still the image these guys portray of Hindus seems to be one of extremism.

Yes the comparison with Simi doesn't even begin to make sense, but still the image these guys portray of Hindus seems to be one of extremism. I can give you personal experience. When I was in college, my roommates family was heavily involved in RSS. I really used to ridicule him and RSS. Guess what I got suckered into media and had negative impression about them. Whenever there was national calamity (like Latur or Orissa cyclone), they would go from street to street to collect money/items etc with their Khakhi Chaddi on. The turned out came during Gujarat Earthquake. It was 26 January weekend we had 3 days off in the college, all of my roommates visited my town and my home. On 26th we all exp. the horrible quake. The first person to go out was my RSS roommate. He went home, called me to join him, they all were going to Kachhh/Bhuj epicenter of the quake. I actually did not have courage to go and see the dead people, help the survivors etc. But truckload of RSS guys went there and I heard about it in newspapers and from other ppl, tremendous amount of work they did. When I was in USA, I had chance meeting with few guys that were involved with RSS in India, we all formed HSS (Hindu Student's Society) on our campus. Our goal was to promote our culture and most importantly "Vasudev Kutumbkam". In two years I went to some of RSS camps (USA Branch), met some really great scholars. They always talked about secularism, Vasudev Kutumbkam etc. See RSS is big organization, there are bound to be some stupid ppl who will do something wrong and entire RSS is blamed for that. If you read about Ayodya Verdict, RSS is quiet happy and ready to accept the verdict, share the land. But VHP and other organisation want to go to Supreme Court and they want entire thing. RSS is trying to persuade them not to do that. In short, they have lot of positives that outweigh negatives.
yoda Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 ^ So looks like they do a lot of good work, but only the bad issues get highlighted. May be they need to change the external view of them by: a) promoting themselves and what they do better b) cut out these military style marches which seem to give them an extremist image
kabira Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 ^thats what exactly I had suggested. I have never military style marching, so may be the one you have in the photo is just an exception, perhaps they are doing peaceful protest???

Nah, I've seen other photos of them as well doing some military style exercises in large groups.
kumble_rocks Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 RSS is a interesting beast , but I am sure they dislike muslims by and large.
ViruRulez Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Wrong comparison to be frank. VHP and Bajrang Dal can be equated with SIMI and all these organizations should be banned. All these three involve in violence and can be equated. But I would give benefit of doubt to RSS till they are proven guilty. To be frank, the day BJP dissociates from these organizations they would surely increase their chances of coming to power. Rahul baba is surely wrong there. RSS is not the right comparison for sure but VHP and Bajrang Dal should have been compared IMO. One more thing. Fanatics from all religions and groups and regions should be banned in modern India very soon
jf1gp_1 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 i would love to hear about this one' date='do tell.[/quote'] I returned to India a few months back after spending good amount of yrs in the US. Till i got back i used to read news articles and strong views like those expressed by Bossbhai but could not understand reason behind such views. Till a few months ago i used to love Barkha.. was i wrong. I cant really explain it you just have to be here to understand it

Till a few months ago i used to love Barkha.. was i wrong. I cant really explain it you just have to be here to understand it From my personal experience, its people like you, who have lived outside who have the extremist views. You guys are far away from your country, have an idealist vision of India and when you come back, you see that India has changed in every aspect. So the reality becomes difficult to come to terms with and you try to find faults with it. Reality is that not many Indian is concerned or gives two shits about which religion is getting what benifits. We are more worried about economic progress and getting more jobs People living in foregin countires get most information from news agencies and websites which inly highlight some negative aspects. No one cares here
CSK Fan Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 BTW, about the Rahul Ghandi outburst, whatever the truth is, this seems to be a well planned attack on the RSS, calculated to bring Rahul to the fore-front

Was Rahul baba making those comments for those people who live outside?Actually you guys are far from reality, even while living in India. In your zeal to be just concerned about "your" economic progress, you allow these politicians and wannabes (8th class fail) to become Prime Minister by taking the gullible masses on a ride..

May be they need to change the external view of them by: a) promoting themselves and what they do better b) cut out these military style marches which seem to give them an extremist image This is not a military-type march.....this is a kind of a parade used to happen on the day of VIjayadashmi, the day when RSS was established to celebrate the day or they also do this when any natural calamity happens to collect money for that, they do it also on 15th August and 26 January...there is nothing wrong in this march. I have been a part of RSS and have attended their camp and 50,000 people from allover India were participating. It was a 3-day camp in Meerut, UP, in November 1998....i was studying in Saraswati Vidya Mandir School running by Vidya Bharati which is an organization under RSS. I was in class 10th at that time.

This is as short sighted as the chinese view that economic progress is more important than democracy and personal freedom. I don't subscribet to religion but neither do I subscribe to this view.
CSK Fan Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 And ONLY in India can a political leader not even think twice before taking a pot shot at a large organization of the majority. And no this is not a sign of how mature our democracy is. Like jf said .. its a sign of how "Green" we are. How is this different from BJP and Modi repeatedly taking pot shots on the Prime Minister, most of which are personal attacks on the Prime Minister of India? Or is that different because no religion is involved? Yeah MTC ... the thing is amongst the things that you dont care are Ethnic cleansing of your own countrymen and that state up north that is now openly and completely green .... and added recently to the list is 26/11 ... try convincing your own conscience (before you embark on convincing me and "extreemists" like me ) that these are jujubi things which come way before your job and economic well being. Way to go equating an external attack(26/11) to majority vs minority within India. Ethnic cleansing !!!! .
