ZodiaC Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Ponting says the field placings were chosen by Hauritz himself. :hysterical::hysterical: So he had given up and was just looking to make his figures a little better.
kabira Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Exactly' date=' Hauritz is like the Sreesanth of the spin world.[/quote'] Unfair to SS. Sreesanth is highly talented bowler, He needed miles under his belt, which he got from this test, you will see him do well in upcoming games. If I am Dhoni I will talk to him, encourage him.
achilles Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Exactly' date=' Hauritz is like the Sreesanth of the spin world.[/quote'] There can be no comparison among the 2. One is a country's pace bowling spearhead, another is almost finished.
ZodiaC Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Exactly' date=' Hauritz is like the Sreesanth of the spin world.[/quote'] What? He bowled nearly as good as Zak in the match, was unlucky not to pick any wickets. He's still our 2nd best test pacer after Zak. Meanwhile Nathu is looking for HDFC retirement plans :giggle:
achilles Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I feel bad for Hauritz, just as much as I maybe did for Jason Krejza. One tour changed it all and their professional life was never the same again

achilles Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Now even a 22yrd old debutant pwns the Aussies.

India yesterday beat Australia in the second Test by seven wickets to claim the series 2-0. Even before the match had ended, Warne reacted to Ponting's field placements on his twitter page. "How the hell can Hauritz bowl to this field?? Feeling for Hauritz , terrible !! What are these tactics ? Sorry Ricky but what are you doing," Warne wrote. Ponting shot back but admitted his side can't avoid criticism in the wake of defeat ahead of Ashes series. "Every field that Nathan has had to bowl with since he's been here has been at his request. It's the field he wants to bowl to. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that Shane would take the time to ask anyone about that. He's got his opinion out in the public at the moment," Ponting was quoted as saying by 'The Australian'. "It's a personal opinion, I guess, and something we all face as international cricketers. Different people say different things at different times. We don't always agree with them but that's life, I guess. There's no doubt we'll face a bit of criticism having lost two Test matches here," he said. Australia will enter the Ashes series against England with its worst Test losing streak in the last 22 years. The Australians have not suffered a whitewash since 1988-89 home series against the West Indies when they lost 0-3.
Bradman99 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 To those who blamed Ponting for his field tactics whilst Hauritz was bowling.. I got one thing to say to ya.. Hauritz chose the field placements, so blame him!
urbestfriend Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 then hauritz deserves to go , but I'd keep him for ashes simply because there is no better replacements and poms are not as good players of spin as us.
Online Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Warney did hit below the belt there but Punter could have talked to his bowler if he thought the fields were outrageous. I thought the Aussies were meticulous planners, if Punter discussed and approved those field settings with Hauritz, he's gotta take the blame too. Unfortunately the buck always stops with the skipper. Can't help but feel sorry for Ponting. He is a terrific batsman and a great fielder. A captain is only as good as his team. Wonder how Tugga would have fared with a team like this.

vvvslaxman Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 As Ian chappell mentioned Clarke's performance was a disappointment. And also Gilly's absence was crucial. He always came out of nowhere and saved the day for Australia. Gilly hasn't done well against India overall. But when he did it was a match winning effort.
thevortex Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 To those who blamed Ponting for his field tactics whilst Hauritz was bowling.. I got one thing to say to ya.. Hauritz chose the field placements, so blame him! I am sorry - but in which rule book is it written that a captain has to employ the same fields that the bowler has asked in 4 consecutive innings when the bowler has not been successful at all??! Ponting as captain has been less than average really. And no, I am not talking about such silliness as forgetting to have a mid off to a pace bowler who was bowling full and on the off side. And Bradman99, I will definitely not say that Australia are pushovers. But if they continue with this same bowling lineup - sans Bollinger, then they will find it very difficult to take wickets and put pressure continuously. And the real test for Australia starts when Ponting and Hussey hang up their boots.
Deleted_User_1 Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Aussies are far from pushovers. India is a difficult place to win and very few teams have had success lately except SA to some extent. Maybe our Aussie friends can tell us what general reaction about the common folks are in Australia. One time (I can think of pre-2007 tour) you guys were downright arrogant in your opinions of the Aussie team and how India would fare. Since then we have won the Perth test, won the CB series, won 2-0 in both 2008 and 2010 home series. Now that's what I called PWNAGE! :D

Shane Warne says he can help Nathan Hauritz. Source: Shaun Curry / AFP Shane Warne has offered to lend a hand to help save Nathan Hauritz's Test career - if Australia want him to. The spin king, who insists Australia must revert to an attacking mindset when Tests are up for grabs, could surely restore Hauritz's shattered confidence. Shane Warne still regards Hauritz as Australia's No. 1 spinner and claims young leg-spinner Steve Smith is not close to being ready to being tossed into the heat of the Ashes cauldron. Warne insists he is no messiah but says he is here to help Hauritz if he can be of benefit. "That's up to Ricky Ponting and Tim Nielsen, but if they are happy for me to work with Horry before the Ashes, then I'm more than happy to," Warne said last night. "I will make myself available and fit it into my schedule. "Murali, Daniel Vettori and myself and a lot of other spinners have been smashed in India at times. That is no disgrace at all. How Horry bounces back in Australia this summer is the key. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. "In my opinion Steve Smith is still a long way short of being Australia's No. 1 Test spinner." Warne, who a day earlier blasted Ponting's field placings to Hauritz in the Bangalore Test, believes Australia's champion aura was partly created by going for the jugular when Tests were on the line. As Australia plummeted to their lowest Test ranking of fifth, Warne said Test rivals were gaining confidence because Australia were shying away from their win-at-all-costs mantra. "Why aren't we converting strong positions into victories? We have to learn how to win again," Warne said. "You have to be prepared to lose a Test to win a Test. "You always have to think, 'How am I going to get this batsman out' - not just dry things up. "India deserve to be the No. 1 side in the world because they attack a lot and have got a lot of good variety. Australia have been getting themselves into a position to win - but just haven't been able to close the deal. Hopefully that changes this summer." The relationship between Warne and Ponting appeared to sour when the leg-spin legend wrote on his twitter site: "How the hell can Hauritz bowl to this field?? Feeling for Hauritz, terrible!! What are these tactics? Sorry Ricky but what are you doing?" However, Warne and Ponting exchanged mobile phone text messages - which appeared to cool the tension. Warne was also quick to point out Ponting was still the right man to captain Australia to Ashes glory. "Me and Ricky are mates and just because we have a disagreement ... doesn't mean we suddenly hate each other," Warne said.
