I get nervous," and the previous thread gets Closed ! :omg: I didn't see any abuse in the previous thread !

He may have irrational fear , that's about it! He just spoke honestly , that's all. Don't tell me that you are perfectly comfortable if a bunch of middle eastern men are travelling on the same plane with you . Even if you are , their may be many who are not ! And that's a fact after 9-11....

I don’t have to tell you, a 1000 things happen within an organization. There’s always politics that goes on. Who knows, they probably wanted to fire him anyway and saw this a great chance to finish the unfinished agenda item. I think its pretty much like the whole Rick Sanchez/CNN episode. I don’t think he got fired because he said Jon Stewart is a bigot or the Jews control the media, they probably wanted to let go off him anyway and felt this was the most ideal chance. When an organization fires someone even before giving that person a chance to clarify his comments (like CNN did to Rick Sanchen and NPR did to Juan Williams), that’s when you know they were just waiting for the chance.

As a liberal myself , it's pretty pathetic if one gets fired for stating an opinion which hardly can qualify as bigotted. Where is the freedom of speech and my tax dollars go to organisation which is trying curb one here. And he was not representing NPR mind you , he was representing himself as a analyst in Fox.

There are "journalists" working for NPR who pass off bigoted statements as "facts"... This guy is a news analyst and he gets yanked for something he felt?! What a sham!!! And the NPR VP later goes to a diff meeting later and implies that Juan is some sort of a nut job by saying "That is between him and his shrink..." All this in the name of political correctness!!! Way to go NPR... :hatsoff:

It was "I gotta tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think they're identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried, I get nervous."

You know how this works KR – They just look for escape routes. They cant just let go off ordinarily – that would have looked terrible on the organization. They probably pounced on this opportunity when they saw this episode happen.

You can't say whatever comes to your mind on TV, unless ofc you are a Fox News commentator. :winky: BTW, on an unrelated issue, but related to rights, do you know that those who work as reporters for news papers/TV channels aren't allowed to attend rallys of political parties unless they are reporting officially there? Would you consider that a violation of their constitutional rights? Possibly, but that is part of their job description.
