The Indian squad for the first Two Tests of the three-match series against New Zealand will be selected on Monday. Reports say opening batsman Gautam Gambhir and fast bowler Ishant Sharma may not be available for the Test series starting on November 4 at Ahmedabad. Both the players missed the second Test against Australia in Bangalore. Gambhir and Ishant are struggling with knee injuries. The 'Times of India' newspaper quoted sources saying that it would take at least two more weeks for the duo to be fit. Young Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund may be retained in the 15-member squad. V V S Laxman is expected to be fit before the start of the series against New Zealand. There are chances that Yuvraj Singh may not be in the squad. Meanwhile, New Zealand have drafted in the uncapped Kane Williamson and Hamish Bennett for the Test tour of India. Six of the squad - Brent Arnel, Martin Guptill, Chris Martin, Tim McIntosh, Gareth Hopkins and Jeetan Patel - will fly directly to India from Zimbabwe, where the New Zealand A side are playing a series of four-day matches.

I am getting worried about GG now,he is getting too many injuroes and to add to that he has been struggling with form as well,we need a fit Gambhir for SA series and World Cup and when it comes to Ishant, thats a blessing in disguise,Sreesanth will play all 3 trests vs NZ,and for me Sree is way ahead of Ishant in bowling skills,he just need to cut on his antics and get his focuss right

Among the top 5-6 Batmen of our team Gambhir has the most Poor Average for the Year. On Top of that this guy keeps missing matches. Am less worried about Ishant than Gambhir.

So when we tour SA, how will it change? I imagine Mishra for Mithun. Hopefully not Unadkat. Saha might be there as reserve WK 1st ODI is on the 28th of Nov I think, so if the entire test 15/16 head out to SA around then should be two weeks-ish to prep for the first test on the 16th of Dec. Send out an A team vs NZ.
