Cricketics Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Who remember the super seires which took place in 05. Personally i thought, it was a great idea. The match weren't quite competitive, but it surely were interesting. Australia dominated that super test and also the odi 3 match series, but it was fun to watch the whole tour to aus. I would love to see this taking place now again with us playing against the rest of the world in similar format test match and odi series in India or may be England. It should be really fun. I liked the whole concept.
Cricketics Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 Tics, I watched it ball by ball ... it was a fantastic idea ... but a great shame that the World-XI didnt put up a better show. :woot: I still remember i was very dissapointed when I heard that Tendulkar won't play in the series because of injury. Really frustrating it was for such a one time event.
RamP Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 yeah we should have the super series again. i'm sure dhoni will lose the toss, and unlike the aussies who dominated the super test from ball 1, we'll choke in the first innings, only to come back from behind and win the test to make it very interesting
Sid Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 it was a waste of time,as expected rest of the world didnt played it as a team(didnt gel well in very little time) and as a result one sided contests
Andy Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 yeah we should have the super series again. i'm sure dhoni will lose the toss' date= and unlike the aussies who dominated the super test from ball 1, we'll choke in the first innings, only to come back from behind and win the test to make it very interesting :giggle:
Cricketics Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 REALLY..I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL FUN. Espcially enjoyed the 70 odd which Sehwag hit in the Super test. GIlly batted well too.
punjabi_khota Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Strauss, Watson, Sanga, Jaya, Amla, Chanderpaul , Boucher, Steyn, Broad, Swann, Johnson

Ya that I remember,he took a particular liking to watson, smashed him all over the park, and best part was it was a difficult to bat on that slightly green pitch
Cricketics Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 A competitive test x1 to play against India woiuld be Graeme Smith Watson Ponting Yousuf Chanderpaul Ab devillers Jayawardene Sangakara Swann Ajmal Steyn Johnson Went with 2 spinners thinking if game takes place in India.
Jersey #10 Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I lovedd that stint of SS. You can easily tell how good the "BEST" of that year actually were. OZ were able to destroy the WXI at the time which meant that they were really the best of 2005. SS now may show us how good India really is compared to the WXI of 2010.. I would love for them the schedule a super series every year but I guess the time constraints don't allow ICC to do it. Now that the players have other commitments such as the IPL and the CL to take care of it makes it even harder for a series like SS to take place...
Guest Hiten. Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 IIRC, players did not gel well together in World XI and gave Graeme smith pretty hard time both on and off field. It was one of the reason why this concept was blurred out. P.S: Wasn't this the time when Inzy actually cried his way into the team after crying foul about "how badly he was treated" as he wasn't picked in the initial world xi squad ? :hmmm:
Sachinism Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 World XI's suck when playing a team that has been playing together for a while
ShahidAfridi Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 A competitive test x1 to play against India woiuld be Graeme Smith Watson Ponting Yousuf Chanderpaul Ab devillers Jayawardene Sangakara Swann Ajmal Steyn Johnson Went with 2 spinners thinking if game takes place in India. Mohammad Amir 10.Mohammad Asif 11.Dale Steyn Steyn and Asif are highest ranked seamers Swann is the highest ranked spinner Amir is a lefty and provides balance for the attack
