i was watching Neo TV-Cricket central program few minutes back- they showed that among pacers Zak is ahead of Anderson, Steyn with 41 wickets in 8 tests this year, despite playing all tests cruel subcontinent pitches, averaging an impressive 22 runs per wicket . that is something very pleasing to note. if he is taken care properly by the physio and team management, he would be able to serve the team well. an injury free Zak would be a great asset in SA and he guides the other seamers well. Zak had done remarkably well and has proved time and again that a sharp cricket brain and ability to swing the ball is more important for a pace bowlers than bowling at 145k day in and day out. He is a treat to watch when he bowls, with his variations, plans to out think the batsmen, working angles, conventional swing, reverse swing. if only he has some reliable support on the other end , he can really get more rewards for his effort. what a bowler!( i am still upset with him for his very poor contribution with the bat this year, he is certainly capable of much more)

I would say Zak and Viru have been key factors for us reaching No.1 ranking Ya its a delight to see him bowl and plan out the dismissals :hail:

Skills wise pretty much the best bowler. On flat tracks, easily the best bowler. Hopefully Zak continues to do well and will take at least 55-60 wickets as we play a total of 13 tests away from home on helpful pitches in SA, WI and Eng. He's a massive chance to improve his record further and perhaps confirm himself as our best ever pacer after the next 18-24 months.

Zaheer's performance this year on test pitches which would break the so called Anderson's/Broad's of the world has been amazing and he's been instrumental, once again, in dominating the Aussies. Too bad he's had absolutely zero support from the other end with Sreesanth bowling absolute trash. Sreesanth doesn't deserve to share the same pitch as Zaheer.

Can Zaheer finish with 350 - 400 wickets by the end of his career ?
350 can be a realistic target. 400 I am not sure and would be very difficult After this NZ tour, I think India has all away tours in order of SA, Eng,WI and Aus until end of 2011. So If Zaheer can maintain his form and fitness, by end of next year he should be around 310 or so (Currently he is at 261) at the age of 33.

I have always believed that Zak is the best pace bowler ever from India also it is worth noting that most of his wickets are top order batsmen unlike Bhajji's who is taking easy tail order wickets, Lets hope he can keep himself fit for next 3 years atleast

if he can pick up his next 89wkts at avg of 20, then he would have 350 test wickets at 29.06 average. Great record. this is calculated after taking into account his 4 for 69 in the 1st kiwi innings.
Good servant to Indian Cricket but with a average of 29 you are not world class. Steyn and Asif are miles ahead of the rest imo
