Temujin Khaghan Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Three Test match series - Durban, J'Berg, CapeTown Bowler friendly conditions, wickets aid bounce the age of all sa cricketers is what they were in 1997 where as indian players are from right now - 2010. Who will win? AC Hudson(bat) G Kirsten(bat) AM Bacher(bat) DJ Cullinan(bat) WJ Cronje*(all) HH Gibbs(bat) BM McMillan(all) SM Pollock(all) DJ Richardson(†/bat) L Klusener(all) AA Donald(bowl) 12th man - PR Adams vs Sehwag(bat) Gambhir(bat) Dravid(bat) Sachin(bat) Laxman(bat) Rain(bat)... bouncy tracks... Alan Donald at his peak... :--D Dhoni(†/bat) Harbhajan(bowl) Zaheer(bowl) Ishanth(bowl) Sreesanth(bowl) 12th man - P Ojha
hari504504 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 :haha: Might as well not go. That is one of the best batting and bowling units regardless of conditions. SA will win it . Donald at his peak is too much for anyone in our line-up on a bouncy wicket. Not to mention Pollock and Mc.millan. Klusener is the only one we will get away with.
Temujin Khaghan Posted November 17, 2010 Author Posted November 17, 2010 my view just look at the sa attack - donald (20 wkts @ 15.95), mcmillain (296@ 98, 4wkts @ 43), pollock (145 @ 36, 10wkts @ 23), klusener (190 @75, 7 @ 34) and even cronje (who troubled sachin a lot during the tour). Sehwag, Laxman will fight fire with fire. Sachin (241 @40.16) will play with calm instead of his belligerent self 13 years back. Gambhir and Dravid (277 @ 55) are in bad form... so they could be in trouble and these are no flat tracks like in india where they can scrape around for some time and finally settle down. They will get out soon if they dont have the confidence. Watching raina will be a punishment for fans. Dhoni will manage Harbhajan likes bounce like Kumble... and he might trouble them a bit (kumble took 8 @ 48) Zaheer will take atleast 15 wickets (srinath took 18 @ 28.72, prasad 17 @ 25) Ishanth will bowl well - will exploit bounce Sreesanth should be decent enuf South african allrounders rock! Cronje's captaincy was very aggressive at that time. SA '97 changed the way the world looked at fielding
thongale Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 PS De Villiers and Brett Schultz finished their careers around the same time period. BTW where is Jonty Rhodes in that line up? Best XI of SAF in mid 1990s was Kirsten, Hudson, Bacher, Cullinan, Cronje, Rhodes, McMillan, Richardson, Schultz, DeVilliers, Donald That bolded part is a mean pace machine.
hari504504 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Schultz didn't play much did he ? stress fractures... same as the other guy- Ngam

Sid Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 But what about Kirsten ,will he open for SA or coach India :hmmm: :--D

Its sadism... its pure cruelty on the opposition.

Agree 100%. That was one beast of a team. Too bad Cronje got invovled in all that fixing scandal. That is the only way I see that team not winning the WorldCup and everything else in its path. What would be cool is if Kirsten is still our coach for this match

What would be cool is if Kirsten is still our coach for this match yes the only way we can win was if cronje fixed. even then they will kick our but!s completely and lose the match in a very silly fashion like they used to from 95' onwards it was always like... South africa was the better team... but they actually lost in the last 20 minutes... wtf
putrevus Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 As great that SA team was ,they got beat by Aussies at home and away which took away that great team tag away from them.
hari504504 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 As great that SA team was ' date='they got beat by Aussies at home and away which took away that great team tag away from them.[/quote'] After the Cronje saga..can;t take any of those defeats seriously(including their weird collapses against us).. anything could have happened backstage.
thongale Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Schultz didn't play much did he ? stress fractures... same as the other guy- NgamHe was at his best in Indian series of 92/93 and Sl series in 1993. Was as quick as Donald, but lot more violent deliveries were bowled by him. In '93 series other than for Aravinda, Arjuna and Jayasuriya and sometimes Tillekaratne, others were just lambs to slaughter against him. The pace and bounce was scary.
jusarrived Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 That SA batting is pretty weak . Hudson , Kirsten & to some extent Cronje wer good bats .
Ram Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 That SA batting is pretty weak . Hudson , Kirsten & to some extent Cronje wer good bats . Are you kidding me? Kirsten, Hudson, Cronje, Bacher, Cullinan Rhodes, McMillan, Pollock, Klusener and Symcox is a weak batting line-up?
