Give him a chance and if he fails discrad him from the longer format, but don't tag him as an ODI bowler purely based on his speed. In helpful conditions, speed wont matter much, skills, intelligence and endurance will comeinto play which IMO PK has got in abundance.

Last test munaf patel played against the kiwis..He bowled up to 140ks...he is certainly quiker thn pk...prblm with pk is...ball dsnt swing in sa tht much nw days and his deliveries struggle to reach to wicket keeper after 5 overs

Do not agree after seeing PK bowl in ODIs and with the other atleast 6-7 better prospects that we have got. He has not got a bouncer mate. Batters could bat 2-3 feet outside their crease to negate the movement, he doesnt even have the pace to push them back.

we are talking about the kookaburra ball and SA conditions. most likely he won't get these conditions beyond the first 10 -15 overs barring circumstances like the breeze in perth or what sreesanth got in that 2006 killer spell . In one dayers, it goes fine, because he can do damage in the first 10 overs. for tests he will be a passenger for the rest of the time, barring unforeseen help with the weather that happens occasionally and on god knows when. It won't work out.

Again thats an assumption. The guy outbowls everone else besides Zak, Ishant and Sree on patta wickets. Played 2 first class games recently, picked 5ers in both the matches. For how long are we going to ignore those performances and label him an ODI specialist. Also, we are talking of a choice as the 4th seamer on slightly helpful wickets, not flat wickets (unless SA decide to play generous hosts). PK with his experience and skills would be welcome addition. As for kookaburra balls, he has done failry well in Aus and SL where they use the kookaburra in the ODIs (and I would back him to do well with the red ball too).

Pk rarely completes his quota og ten overs even in one dayers..You are talking about 20 overs in a test day and dont compare fc with tests...sreesanth never set fc on fire and he was picked basically on potential....

So his domestic record does not matter cos thats with SG balls and "in certain conditions". His international record does not matter cos tests are different? So on what basis are you going to judge if someone can do well in tests? Lets look at a few factors: Ability to move the ball both ways Bowl accurately Think intelligently and setup a batsman Bowl long spells Bowl tightly in phases and ability to bowl to the field where the team is looking to slow down the scoring rate PK would do well in nearly all of the above when compared to the other bowling options!!

Agreed Dude, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Can't discard a bowler because he got thrashed somewhere here and there, Shoaib Akhtar got smashed by Sachin Tendulkar in 2003, he is still playing , ain't it. But the point is, it's sad not to hear about these promising youngsters. I believe India would be better than history suggests in the Fast Bowling Department if all goes well. Ishant Varun Umesh Shukla Abu Nechim Pritam Das All are pacy and have dismantled indian domestic teams. Time for them to step up to the International Stage. Primtam and Shukla are relatively unknown, but from what ive read in various forums, they are not behind in the pace department to the other folks. If you see the new breed, even if 2 bowlers along with ishant, out of this list are quick and have wicket taking abilities, India is good for 10yrs. I'm Dam eager to see him on TV. The other day somebody mentioned, maninder singh was complimenting him, saying he is another one who can cross 150kmph. From what i see, he can be pretty handy with the Bat too. Where the hell are you dude ? Play some games.... Though he is not 19 now, probably 21, this is an old article, if he was appreciated for these years, he is on the brink.
