Unfortunately I doubt Modi will ever get the chance to become PM, though personally I think he fully deserves the post and would do a cracking job.

Narendra Modi to be PM :--D
Never.never..never... Firstly because he was the man behind the Godhra genocide and secondly because his popularity is only limited to Gujarat and he'll never be able to maintain a coalition Govt.

^two things 1) Look up the defination of genocide first 2) If he was behind riots, even after so many inquiries he has never been charged, remember he cooperated with the inquiry comissions I am f*$cking sick of this idiots who have no clue about Gujarat and their people.

Sushma is a corrupt woman. I back Arun Jaitley or Rahul Gandhi for that position.
:finger:
Yeah Arun Jaitley is another good pick.
SUSHMA is very powerful in BJP. i realise this many times in bjp rallies

I know the definition and thats why I used this particular term. As far as inquiries are concerned, they are still going on - the CBI is still pursuing the case and the SIT had called Modi for questioning a few months back.

State elections are a trend-spotter for the national outcome? Thats a cardinal sin in Indian politics. :giggle:
The Gandhi charm is losing its shine... junior campaigned hard in Bihar..and end result:haha: Anyway, this is just sincerely hoping that we have a head-strong leader after the next elections..no more puppets and dynasty politics..

Look at where Gujarat is right now compared to any other state in India..despite bordering Pak - the external elements have not dared to launch an operation in that state - simply cause they don't want to mess with 'the Modi' (or lets put it this way - never a successfull operation). CBI is still trying to stir up a storm in a teapot because of the masters in the central govt

^^ Historically, have there been many external elements in Gujarat though ? I don't think there is any external element in Rajasthan either.

Two words: mass appeal. Narendra Modi does not have that and the ghosts of Godhra will continue to haunt him. Arun Jaitley is a very good face of the party in the sense that he can debate very well on the television but come on, what percentage of India watches the big fight ? He is a good campaign strategist and should stick to that as of now. It would be wise of BJP to project a centrist and not another RSS/Bajrang Dal product as a prime ministerial candidate. No matter what anyone claims about these organizations, they do not have mass appeal and that's what wins elections. Nitish Kumar is one of those candidates they should seriously consider. I suspect the ego that comes with being the second largest party will not allow that to happen. Hopefully, they can realize the number of states where they can win a majority of the seats; half a dozen i suppose ? Well, this is India, if Antonia Maino can be the virtual PM & Sharad Pawar (as does Mulayam Singh) wins election after election, logic does not always apply. Three and a half yrs is quite sometime, Rahul baba will continue to grow in popularity and it will always be tough challenging a Gandhi.

Considering what he 'did to the muslims' at Godhra..and hardline stance in general should make him/his image/state prime target for the various outfits... But on the contrary : Under his leadership the Gujarat Police Intelligence wing has grown into an impressive hawk that has not only foiled such plots throughout the state - but has also tipped off other State governments (states as far flung as Kerala) about radical outfits recruiting and operating in the respective regions. But like what the other posters have mentioned - mass appeal may be a problem. Of all the damn things that deprive us of a fine leader :((

There's also the factor of coalition politics to consider. Modi will neither be accepted by other coalition partners of NDA nor does he look like a person who can manage relations with them without brewing up one or the other controversy every now and then. The best bet looks like Arun Jaitely or Sushma Swaraj, both of them are good administrators and command the respect of party members and allies alike.

"any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."[2] Because of the influence of Joseph Stalin, this definition of genocide under international law does not include political groups.[3][4][5] Genocide is one way traffic, whereas in Gujarat they were classic riots, Lot of hindus were dead and they also suffered, so how on the earth its Genocide. You guys have no freacking clue, My brothers shop was burned in those riots. If it was genocide why has it not happened again?? Its been 10 years...ask any muslim in Gujarat they are much safer and prosper than anywhere else. Infact Muslims have started waiting for BJP, just check last Municipal elections. Your second pont that case is going on. Yes very good its going on, but you pronounced him criminal, remember there is innocent until guilty thing. He has been cooperating with SIT.

Fair enough.........I should'nt have used that word. But as CM it was his responsibility to try and control the situation rather than encourage violance. In May 2009 one of the Gujarat Govt's ministers was arrested for leading a group of rioters-I don't think a minister would dare to do such a thing against the orders of the CM. Many of the top police officials/IAS officers have come on record saying that they were ordered NOT to take action or at least to delay it. Also, why have various Govts around the world refused him VISA? Yes he has done a lot of development over the past 5-6 years but if he is in any way responsible for what happened in 2002 then he should not be eligible to become the PM ever.
