kabira Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 We won't need anyone at number 7 in the world cup. No Jadeja, No Pathan (Big and Small) With Kohli in great form we would have Raina at 7. thats what I see right now in the world cup. Sehwag Sachin Gambhir Kohli Yuvi Dhoni Raina Bhajji/Ashwin Zaheer Ishant Nehra/SS/Praveen Kumar/Amit Mishra
Sachin=GOD Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Dhoni/Raina would swap positions according to the situation/opponent and this line up could be fine.
Online Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 do you have so much faith in 4 regular bowlers plus Yuvi/Sehwag/Raina's bowling for the 5th bowler? If one of our regular pacers gets whacked (odds are high), extra pressure on the part timers.
kabira Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 ^well I think Yuvi, Sehwag and Raina can definately bowl 15 overs... I think Virat Kohli should bowl as well, he is in Chris Harris Mould.
fineleg Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 ^well I think Yuvi' date=' Sehwag and Raina can definately bowl 15 overs... I think Virat Kohli should bowl as well, he is in Chris Harris Mould. Only if the pitch is VERY helpful. Otherwise, those 15 overs can seal the fate of the match in favor of the opposition. And we need to remember Sehwag does not bowl much these days, esp. he has shoulder or back niggles cropping up quite regularly.
vaibhav_delhi Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 How is yusuf pathan a better bowler than yuvi?
Jersey #10 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Can someone fix the thread title? This is freaking annoying
Hindustani Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 How is yusuf pathan a better bowler than yuvi? actually if we see the past record, UV looks to be better bowler than YP, infact it is more like UV > Raina = Sewag > YP

Sehwag Sachin Gambhir Kohli Yuvi Dhoni Raina Bhajji/Ashwin Zaheer Ishant Nehra/SS/Praveen Kumar/Amit Mishra I agree, we don't have any Shakib or Vettori, so lets just get on with it. Yuvi, Raina, Viru are good enough to bowl 15 overs between them. But what's it with your bowling lineup? :omg: Ishanth in ODIs? Bhajji, Ashwin/Ojha, Nehra/PK & Zak should be our lineup.
ZodiaC Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 actually if we see the past record, UV looks to be better bowler than YP, infact it is more like UV > Raina = Sewag > YP More like UV>Jaddu>Sehwag>/=Raina>YP
Sachin=GOD Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 More like UV>Jaddu>Sehwag>/=Raina>YP Jaddu should'nt even be in consideration for a spot.
dial_100 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I agree. At most we would get couple of 300+ games or even upto 340. I think with this kind of batting line up on a pitch where opposition scores 340, we should be able to score it as well. So from my side in form 7 players is big plus.
kabira Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 99%, the batting line up will be what I mentioned in the OP unless there are injuires. Kohli has to play, if Kohli had not performed we would had Y Pathan or Jadeja at 7
diegovegaz Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 yes, with yuvraj bowling well, we don't need a pathan or a jadeja raina and dhoni are good finishers, and much more reliable than pathan nehra, pk, sree/zak iashwin over bhajji, dhoni has confidence in him, bowls in powerplays, picks more wickets than bhajji, and a better bat, if needed
Sooda Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 If Kolhi does play it should probably be at the expense of a batsman. I was thinking GG before yesterday. We need a 5th bowler on the pattas at home our bowlers can get clobbered agst good teams; cant expect too much from Raina and Kohli with the ball. Yuv is a handy spin option as is Sehwag but he dosent bowl much. Ashwin can bat a bit right? why cant he be the '5th bowler', Bhajji , Zak, Nehra and PK making up the rest. Bhajj and PK can chip in with runs too potentially. Thats a decent ODI attack...

You cant drop any batsman in this lineup - sachin, sehwag, gauti, kohli, yuvi, dhoni, raina..........so I would go with 7+4 rather than 6+5.
cowboysfan Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 zak, bhajji, sree can all be taken to the cleaners on any given day.if one or two get clobbered then a 300 score will become a 350 score.i just cant see them taking the risk of going with 4 bowlers.
kabira Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 ^Only way to stop run flow is taking wicket, We need attacking spinner. I would go with Ashwin. So my combo will be 2 spinners 2 pacers.
Ram Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 We're either trying to skirt around the issue of the #7 spot, or keep trying the same failed candidates in that spot. Yusuf came in with a lot of promise, but is clear has daylight that he doesn’t have the temperament to handle the pressures of that spot. Plus, his bowling is not even as good as Yuvraj’s or Raina’s. Jadeja gave good control with the ball, but his batting is shockingly abysmal. As always, it comes back to the issue of playing 3 seamers. It is completely upsetting the balance of the team and spoiling all our well laid plans. If the team management thinks it can get away with a mediocre bat or even a bowler at the #7 spot, especially in the knockout phases of the WC being played in the subcontinent where the scores are invariably going to be massive, then they’re making a HUGE miscalculation. It doesn’t matter how power-packed your top 6 is, but if you’re chasing a target in excess of 300-320, then it is your #7 who has to finish the fight.
