thats fine for the last 35 years. But back is 1930s, the quality of bowlers, in terms variety(number of bowlers), in terms pace, in terms of skill, in terms of fitness was far inferior. variety => bradman only played 17 innings in all against all countires minus england. pace=> they faced bodyline without guards(helmet n arm guard). If bradman plays last 35 years' fast bowlers without helmet he would be dead in 1 series. skill=> experts agree they were not nearly as skillful as bowlers of last 35 years
That's exactly how a guy who doesn't factors like evolution would think :winky: If you still don't get it then refer to folks like Lindbergh, who are considered amongst the greatest aviators for doing the stuff which 1000s of people do it everyday today. Anyways, I think this post is a waste of time as you are not going to get what is implied. You would probably wonder what has Lindbergh got to do with cricket :giggle:

Bradman is in the league of his own .... That doesn't mean that Sachin is not good or something like that. Sachin is one of my favorite players and I would like to see him as the greatest but despite what he has achieved how far he is from other great batsmen like Sobers, Richards, Gavaskar, Lara, etc is subjective. To me, in their best form, Sobers, Richards, Lara, Sachin, etc are all interchangeable. You can't go wrong by picking one over the other .... Personally, I would be inclined to pick Sir Gary Sobers. He is just an amazing cricketer. I tend to see him as a hybrid of Lara and Richards. He can play some exceptional innings like Lara and can be a game changer like Richards. Some examples of his good performances are 365*, 254 against Aus (which Don Bradman rated as the best inning played by a non-Australian in Australia), the 6 sixes in an over in domestic cricket. If someone were to say Sobers isn't but Richard or Lara or Sachin is best then I would be inclined to respect his opinion but not in case with Bradman vs any of them. If Bradman didn't exists, this greatest batsman debate is a non-starter. One should leave Bradman out of such comparisons. And everyone who knows cricket knows what Bradman has achieved so there is no need to go on why he is in the league of his own

^Dhoni is no one to Drop Sachin to Number 3' date=' Sach will decide where to Bat. Else Sachn will Kick Dhoni out of Indian cricket just as he Did with Greg The Chappel.[/quote'] :dito::dito::dito::dito: was there any point to this question really? It just has to be Goddy-Viru. There is no other option but to have Goddy at the top of the order as long as he's playing.

So basically you are saying Bradman is the greatest. To which I do not agree for the reasons stated above. IMO, there should be no comparisons, But if I am hard pressed for one answer then: Sachin is the greatest. Sachin is gonna be the holy grail of batting for the future generations for his pure batsmanship and his longevity. And in future, the comparisons of the best batsman are gonna be made with sachin not bradman.

If you have the all time best ODI opener in your team in prime form' date=' does not take much brain to decide where he should bat.[/quote'] 78% people voted that gamby should open in the WC on bcci.tv. I am not saying that its necessarily right.

Then quit bringing it up. I'm surprised this is a thread with close to 120 posts and growing.

I can not answer for morons or trolls on some external website. I think the opinion on ICF is quite clear and I find the question stupid. Like someone said, it should not have been even asked in the first place.

Like someone said' date=' it should not have been even asked in the first place.[/quote'] well. I wouldnt call them moron. They have their valid reason. Gamby provides left-right combo besides being in devastating form at opening in this, the last series in the sub-cont. before the WC.

Gambhir-Sehwag. Tendu at no. 3 .I don't see what the big deal is' date=' Tendulkar is no more the destroyer of the 90s...he would play the anchor around whom everyone should bat.[/quote'] What exactly u mean by a destroyer? a batman need on keep on smashing the bowl as soon as he sees it but its enough if pure elegance and timing take the ball to the boundary and he scores for the team and especially with the way sachin has batted for the previous few years, no way he should be sent at any other place other than opening.. where he has batted for more than a decade

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: u actually consider that a opinion :hysterical: then u have a good view on what should happen with respect to that vote.. :hatsoff:

And if you consider form, Sachin scored a 200* in his last ODI match in subcontinent. It's stupid to even think of Sachin batting down the order when he had been a resounding success as opener in WCs.

well It is obvious that Sachin has been our best batsman over the years. I guess which of the 3 could be most effective at No. 3 would be the clinching factor. In that respect, we know that sehwag is most likely to fail down the order than the other two. Hence I would open with sehwag for sure. Not sure about his partner.

Tendulkar has a terrific record as an opener, but not down the order. Gauti did well at no. 3 IIRC. What's there to discuss then?
