What is your level of hope?

Ummeed pe zindagi khayam hai! This thread is to share those inner fan resilience and irrationality that we may all possibly share... Even back in the 90s, much after Sachin was out and India were left with Nayan Mongia and Anil Kumble chasing another 100 to get in about 13 overs with 3 wickets in hand, I would cling on to hope...and believe that we can pull it off. At what point in the game do you finally reconcile with the inevitable...your team's loss?

Till it was over...Infact even when the opposition had 40 runs to score with 1 wicket in hand and 6 deliveries. I used to make sure we sealed the deal bcoz we had a lot of Jokers in our team back then.

Until it's all over, It's never really over. Recent example was the amount of hope I had when were were almost about to get bowled out against Australia in first test at mohali but Sharma and Laxman bailed us out. Never I thought that we would lose, had gut feeling if we take session by session, 10 run by 10 run, we can finish this target off.

Beyond a point, you can pretty much tell 8 out of 10 times how a cricket match is going to end. So if I think its beyond our team, I just reconcile and move on. No Indian movie style, elaborate poojas and desperate prayers for me. I prefer reality to hope.

In cricket, one should never loose hope till the last ball has been bowled. An example is the Natwest final - I was watching that with 20-25 people and by the time India lost 4-5 wickets, each and every one of those people had lost all hope and went away but I watched on and still hoped that maybe we would somehow do it if we played sensibly. But sometimes such high levels of hope also result in very severe disappointment like the Chennai test against Pak in 1999 or the Hyderabad ODI against Aus in 2009.
