flamy Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 i had said this earlier, but this forum, being full of blind worshippers of dhoni, laughed me off here todays match clearly shows that dhoni should be kicked out of captaincy & someone like gambhir be made the captain. a 5-0 record as captain says it all if the selectors have any sense, then dhoni should be removed as captain immediately abe saale where is ur new year dance? :hitler:

How on earth would you justify him not shielding the tail against Steyn ?.. we could've very well added an extra 20 runs if he had faced most of the deliveries at the death. And Nehra bowling the last over was a stroke of genius... He seems to have lost his way recently..

I rated you as a good poster... india lost 9/29 on good batting wkts and dhoni was not out batsman, you cant blame him at all there... Nehra is our 3rd seamer for this WC, supposed to play in most of our remaining matches, so it was a good move to give him the last over...

SRT was getting under pressure to score at higher rate because of gambhir's slow innings.. .. the no. 3 batsman has to know how to rotate strike.. but he couldnt on flat pitch.. i would say virat in place of gambhir.. and let raina come at no. 6 or 7 ...
jhakati Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 gambhir should replace dhoni as the indian captain immediately when gambhir captains, even the team wins(like delhi winning ranji trophy after 16 years, india winning 5-0 comfortably here :D), but even he himself is in a smashing form. made 330 runs in this odi series & was in smashing form in the ranjis as well in the 2007/08 season yusuf pathan was always treated unfairly by dhoni, but gambhir is giving him 8-10 overs every match, which has resulted in yusuf pathan taking 5 wickets over his last 2 odis & also sent him higher in the order this time, allowing him to hit a match winning 100 gambhir has also backed out of form & struggling players, and unlike the previous captains, doesnt seem to have any favourite players. dhoni had jadeja & rohit sharma as his favs. gambhir has none also the pressure on dhoni has to be reduced. he is a key batsman for us & also his wicket-keeping is crucial. reducing the load of captaincy from him will be a good idea. that way we can even see him bowl a few overs if required if the selectors have any sense, gambhir should be made the permanent captain of india wrist slitters delight

This is a kind of new trend I'm seeing these days here - we criticise those players who have actually made the runs and performed well rather than those who collapsed like a pack of cards. If anyone out of the top 7 has to be dropped, it just has to be Yusuf Pathan. Right now what we need is a good and reliable finisher and Yusuf, for all his destructive abilities, is not reliable enough IMO. Gambhir provides much needed solidity to the middle order and has been a consistant performer for a long time - there is no way he should be dropped. Kohli is in tremendous form and is one of the few good fielders in the team and should'nt be dropped. So we should have Raina in place of Yusf.
