Eden Gardens vs MCG ?

Got to be Eden Gardens - I mean, how can you beat the experience of watching cricket amongst morons who will light the stadium on fire, start riots and start pelting the visiting team with whatever they can find when their team is losing. To top it all they would boo and jeer their country's team because someone from their state and city was not played in a cricket match. Must say, what an amazing crowd and atmosphere.

Although I am from Kolkata originally, I cannot deny your observations. Bengali crowds there are very partisan and abusive. If only the opposition players could understand the abuses (sometimes racial) hurled in Bengali at the players. Sometimes they are even directed at fellow spectators. The cheap stands are downright scary. This was my impression from the 80s. I am not sure if it has gotten any better, probably worse. Although it is a imposing and beautiful ground, the facilities stink.

I would never chose an Indian stadium over an English/Aus/NZ/SA stadium atleast in theory as i've only been to 1 cricket stadium in the world. Waiting 2 hours to getting in, useless security checks, bad seats, overbooking, stinking restrooms, horrible food, directionless exits..could go on. Maybe MA chidambaram stadium has changed in the last 9 years.

It was done by 95% of the crowd.The rest 5% included me.Whenever I would try to cheer I would be shouted down and abused.Horrible people.I really hate that place.

They were booing Greg Chappel and Dravid.and i for one supported them for jeering and booing Chappell........he was arrogant and his indescent behaviour towards the fans in kolkata and how Dravid defended him..... Ligting torches is a old sign of victory......i guess u r not familiar with bengali culture and history. Yes what happened in 1996 WC was desplicable......but only a dection fo the crowd did it.....I was present in the stadium

^Yeah, we were celebrating a great victory in 1996 when the stadium was being lit on fire - I suppose I am not only ignorant about the Bengali culture and history, but also about what victory and defeat is. Not to mention that Gambhir and Pathan were being booed as they walked out to open in the ODI vs. South Africa. I must have missed the fact that Chappell had brought his brother in and disguised themselves as Gambhir and Pathan. The super intelligent Calcutta crowd figured it out and started booing the Chappell brothers. It's rather hilarious to see people justify the behavior of the Eden Gardens crowd. It is quite simply the most despicable crowd in cricket history across all countries and eras. The venue should be stripped of all international matches till they can demonstrate holding 10 years of domestic cricket with a modicum of decency.

Headingly is the greatest ground to watch cricket, amir andf asif destroyed Aus there and that was my 1st ever test match and it was worth it sadly for me , i thought every test match would be like that and i soon realised that bat wins over ball 9/10.
