Broad tried it once. Clarke tried. Haddin did too. The problem with him is that he refuses to man up to his mistakes. It wouldn't have cost him much to try and tell Punter that, "Sorry skip. I screwed up". If everyone in the team was just as logical as you, I'm sure the reaction would've been a lot different. Anyways, this is just another nail in Punter's coffin. Sad to see the man will only be remembered for his batting exploits, unlike Sachin or Rahul or Mark Taylor, who have also created a reputation of being what everyone should be - "Sportsmen"

The verdict is in. Punter has been fined 40% of his match fees for this shameful incident. Forget a match ban, they couldn't even fine him 100% of the fees. Unreal! Or am I being unreasonable here? He already has four citations for showing dissent against umpires in the past. This would be the 5th incident...and this time it was with both umpires. Double trouble!

This surely was a level 2 offence and would have meant a minimum of 1 test ban. But looks like he was charged with a level 1 offence and hence a 40% match fee fine. Absolutely ridiculous.
