Ultimate_Game Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Tests South Africa .The best strength of SA fast bowling attack is amazing Odis India Are you sure? You take out Steyn and they are pretty average. As far as fast bowling is concerned Australia is miles ahead as far as bench strength is concerned.
BeautifulGame Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Are you sure? You take out Steyn and they are pretty average. As far as fast bowling is concerned Australia is miles ahead as far as bench strength is concerned. Philander and Morkel will walk into Aussie bowling lineup let alone Steyn. None of the Aussie first choice bowlers including Pattinson havent proved anything in International cricket so far let alone their bench strength.Cant compare with SA imo
Ultimate_Game Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Philander and Morkel will walk into Aussie bowling lineup let alone Steyn. None of the Aussie first choice bowlers including Pattinson havent proved anything in International cricket so far let alone the much hyped bench strength. Aussie fast bowling unit is pretty good with likes of Starc, Pattinson, Harris, Siddle, Cummins (if fit), Johnson. It's the lack of spinners which kills them. On a pace friendly seaming pitch Aussies would be a tough out for any team.

Strac not even first team regular yet , Cummins and Harris hardly play 2 consecutive tests and Siddle and Hilfenhaus are plain average .Not as good as SA bowlers for me

SA attack depends way too heavily on Steyn and to a lesser extent on Philander. Morkel cannot lead the pace atack IMO. OTOH Aussies don't have problem plugging in the fast bowling gap and can replace any pacer without major concerns. Aussies' issue is spin bowling which is bare and batting which is too reliant on Clarke, but their fast bowling depth is which is keeping them competitive.
Ultimate_Game Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Whatever happened to Hilfenhaus' date=' Bollinger?[/quote'] Yup, and add in Watson and McKay as well along with Dirk Nannes.
vvvslaxman Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 Lot of new crop of south african bowlers like Abbot are yet to prove themselves against team other than Pakistan :cantstop:

Based on what? Steyn Philander Morkel Kyle Abbott Tsotsobe Morris. For me SA bench is as good as Aus but with much better first choice bowling attack.
Crookbond Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 SA does NOT have a bench strength in batting or bowling (for Test matches). England and Australia have a good bowling bench strength. India has good batting bench strength. Sri Lanka has no strength in the team, forget bench strength. :hahaha:

Take out Steyn and maybe Philander and SA would struggle big time. Take out any of the 2 pacers from Aus attack and they will still be more than handy as far as pace deptt goes.

Crookbond Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 It's time for RKT to come and tell about the bench strength on Australian bowling. I think they have about 7-8 international class bowlers who would've debuted if based in any other team (I hope England is listening :secret: )
StriKe Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Sri Lanka has no strength in the team, forget bench strength. :hahaha: :phehehe: What about Pakistan :hmmm:

vvvslaxman Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 :phehehe: What about Pakistan :hmmm: Ya Younis Khan, Afridi.. when they go out of form.. (which will be instantaneous) then Malik, Hafeez will be their bench strength.. Bengh strength and main team will keep swapping endlessly.
