IKnowU Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Virender Sehwag has been rested from the one-day series in South Africa due to a shoulder injury, but he will play in the deciding Test in Cape Town starting Sunday. Rohit Sharma has been named as his replacement for the one-dayers, and opener M Vijay has also been added as the squad's 17th member. Full report to follow http://www.espncricinfo.com/south-africa-v-india-2010/content/story/494687.html?CMP=chrome Rohit :aha: :woot:
Watson87 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Rohit is pure class - i think there is a thread about his classiness :hysterical:
DomainK Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Good. I like the way we are resting the key players from time to time. Sehwag should be fresh and kicking for WC.
saneindian Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Now we know why he hasnt been bowling off late. Good decision to rest him before the WC. With about 7 weeks to go before the WC begins, Sehwag can rest properly work on the shoulder and then comeback fresh. In fact if Zak is also not 100%, we should rest him too. Not worth risking your best players struggling with niggle before the WC. Also its a blessing in disguise as this will now mean Kohli gets to play the ODIs in SA at number 3. SRT, GG, Kohli, Yuvi, Raina, Dhoni, Yusuf, Bhajji/Ashwin, PK, Nehra, Munna

fineleg Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 ZK and SRT should only play 3 of the ODIs. (infact if either one of them needs more rest, then they can be set to play 2 ODIs only - wrap them in cottonwool) Keep all the key players fresh for WC2011. Its a good decision to rest Sehwag. Is there any serious issue with the shoulder? If so, will they even consider giving him a rest from Cape Town Test match? (though the report says he'll play)
rahulrulezz Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Not a good news at all.. Horrible... I just hope Sehwag gets fit before the worldcup...otherwise I see another 2007 Wcup..Without Sehwag, its impossible to win the Worldcup
vaibhav_delhi Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 not a good news. it'd have been good if he played a few matches.
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Yeah, he should rest for the worldcup as well May be we should rest Sachin as well.
Sid Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Poor news,If I am not wrong he missed the Icc t20 2009 ,2010 and champions trophy 2009 becoz of the same injury, and still it is troubling him
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 i wanna see rohit open the batting in ODIs he would make a great opener.
Sid Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Thay had the chance to select a backup keeper in the squad but again they have selected this 'Super Talent' in the team
Andy Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 We'll be pawned badly in the ODI series. Without Sehwag outside India we dont often do well.
saneindian Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Parthiv Patel after his impressive 2 50s vs the Kiwis as an opener will be dispapointed. The little man should have replaced Sehwag. Can play as a reserve opener as well as a keeper to rest MSD if needed.
Andy Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 The whole team looks injury prone to me, Plays 1-2 match/matches misses out for the rest of them. If accidentally they manage to play an entire series, surely they misses out for the next series.
IKnowU Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 Parthiv Patel :hysterical: That midget will be bounced out of the stadium on the SA pattas :giggle: God and Gambhir obviously will be the new opening combo.
