Seamers could have done better: Harbhajan

Harbhajan Singh on Wednesday conceded that India let slip the third Test out of their hands and reckons that their pace department could have done a better job. South Africa were struggling at 98 for five at one stage but went on to set a stiff target of 340 runs for India to win the match with Jacques Kallis scoring a defiant century. Harbhajan said had Indian pacers -- who managed just two wickets in the Proteas's innings -- succeeded in exploiting the favourable conditions, the picture of the match could have been different. "I don't know what was the plan but I think we could have created more chances throughout the day. We didn't bowl the right length. I'm not being critical but just giving my honest opinion that we could have taken a bit more wickets with our seamers. There is still pace and carry and we've seen that their seamers have taken a lot of wickets," he said after day's play. Harbhajan said he was satisfied with his own show and he has given an answer to his critics but the overall bowling show was not encouraging. "Happy I got wickets but not happy that Kallis got a 100. At one stage we were in a good stage at 130 for 6, but from there on they batted well, but we didn't create enough chances and didn't bowl as well as we should have," he said. "A lot of people have been saying things, writing things, but I think I have been contributing to team wins. I'm happy with the way I have bowled. Number one wicket taker is Dale Steyn and from India I have taken the most wickets."
What a utter disgusting thing to say. I would be very pissed if my any colleges at work would have said that. Act as a team

if he is referring to ishant, he is spot on. sree bowled about as well as he could, at least until he was told off by dhoni. zaheer didnt look 100% bhajji himself was **** once the ball got old and didnt try anything different when kallis and bouch were working him for singles thru square leg and gully, and dhoni didnt change anything

Well they should have done better' date=' he got 7 for effs sake, if others had contributed a bit, we'd be chasing a win today[/quote'] talk about missing the point. HS had to say and criticize his teammates in public along with being satisfied with his performances. Completely wrong, it is a team game. If this was in business, he would be sacked.

Uh hello? Sree himself said he started off the first spell "lazy" Then he bowled extremely well for two spells then the final spell in the evening, he bowled rubbish again. 2nd innings he bowled well again, until his two appeals were turned down, he lost his composure and kicked a boundary pad then the crowd started laying into him and again he started bowling poorly. Sree has been up and mostly down his entire career but all of sudden now he's not bowling well because Dhoni said something to him? :hysterical:

^ But Ishant has been the most disappointing in this series. Worst amongst the three in this series.
I am not disappointed with Ishant ,you get disappointed when you have some hope from a player,Ishant is a hopeless case,he just been getting selected over and over again with his poor performances ,Dhoni should have realized it and should have gone with Ojha

But MSD always blindly picks Instant Sharma!

ishant was a fkn disgrace, the guy gift wrapped boucher his first 20 runs off a bunch of trashy deliveries and thats when the momentum changed in favour of SA. him getting prince out was actually bad for india 'cos dhoni gave hm a few more overs than he should have

he lost his composure because umpires kept talking to him and i am sure that had some effect on dhoni, who chose to talk to him at the drinks break. i dont know how u can pick sree out for criticism when he was the only bowler that loked like getting a wicket and the only bowler that actually tried.

Well its not, and a lot worse things have been said. I'm sorry but on a pitch where the ball was doing a bit, Ishant was pathetic

Yes, and he needs to be sent to work on his bowling NCA, County Cricket whatever. But he should not be picked for the Indian team until he can demonstrate significant improvement.

So now it's the umpires? It's because of them that Sree lost his composure? First it was Dhoni and now it's the umpires? Fine whatever. Any international bowler who loses his composure for long periods because an umpire says something to him is well, mentally weak and that pretty much describes Sreesanth exactly. And no, I'm not just picking Sree for criticism. I've repeatedly said he's bowled well when he's concentrating on his bowling. When he's not and is too busy confronting other players, the crowd, and being a crybaby his bowling is crap. That's not criticizing, that's just telling the truth same as the commentators. Pretty much exactly when we MOST needed a breakthrough with Zaheer carrying a shoulder injury, Ishant bowling mediocre and the pitch still offering swing/seam Sreesanth had a genuine opportunity to make his mark and help the team post a historic win. Instead this clown was too busy getting into altercations with the crowd and letting two turned appeals get into his head. That's why Sreesanth can never be relied upon as a team player.

I do not know what you are talking about but it does not make sense for any professional to question the performances of their team mates/collegues in public. It is total disaster and selfish from Harbhajan.

LOL, look who's saying this If other bowler started saying the same thing about Harbhajan, then it would have been an every match affair for the last 2 odd years. :giggle:

Agree with Bhajji completely. Our pace batteries have bowled dreadfully throughout the series. And Ishant perfectly showed the youngsters watching at home what line and length one must not bowl at top level, he really needs to revise all the basics he learned as a kid.

now i am sure some reporter is sleepin near bhajji's room' date=' how else do bhajji's interview pop up every day? :hmmm:[/quote'] A hidden microphone near the washbasin capturing bhajan's glorious moments talking to himself :giggle:
