I was trying to get as many all-rounders in the team as possible..

I think the selection panel and Team management including Dhoni have the option of not having another Keeper. If the need arises, Nohit or Kohli can stand in. I was hoping to use Kohli as another medium pacer. He used to bowl medium pace durin his U-19 WC campaign. Don't want to have "Dant-Nipora" Secret Agent Nehra..Bowls too many loose deliveries..
zen Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I would start out with the X1 below: Sachin Sehwag GG Kohli Raina Yuvi Dhoni Ashwin PK Zak Munaf Reserves: Bhajji Nehra YP Uthappa (also functions as the reserve WK) More or less everyone had most of these guys in their squad so can't complain with what the selectors did .... The only change in my squad is that it has Uthappa while the selectors' has Chawla. Though it's not bad to see a leggie in the squad! As for the reserve WK, it was said that a team can have one travel with the squad so in case of an emergency, the reserve wk can be drafted in at a short notice
Gunner_Mania Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I was expecting Rohit in the team and instead it is Chawla..I guess it that decision doesnt make much of a difference as I dont see that person getting a game - could have been Rohit or Chawla. Even in this squad, I see a 3-way fight between Yususf/Yuvi & Kohli for 2 batting spots. Sachin/Viru/Gambhir Raina 2 batsmen - Kohli/Yuvi/Pathan Dhoni 4 bowlers - 3+1 or 2+2
