kooljatt Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 no Suraj Randiv ? blame sehwag and BCCI:hysterical:
Lord Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 would've liked to see Jayasuriya, could've been useful batting PP n also his bowling is quite handy on spin friendly wickets.surely better than Pappugadhera or Samaraweera also Vaas looked good in IPL,maybe shoul've been in for Fernando
girishk14 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 A real bowling powerhouse, but batting line up seems weaker than WI, with basically nothing more than Dilshan and Sanga (considering mahela poor form in ODIs). id have loved to see the 2nd gr8est opener in action for one last time :-(
VRV Singh Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Perera could be a useful batting outlet on pattas, if his irritating hitting against India is anything to go by
gaurav92 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Good squad.Nice balance between youth and experience there. They will be a tough side to beat. Dilshan Tharanga Sangakkara Mahela Mathooze Kapugedera/Silva Perera Strong batting line up. BTW SL don't have any series before the WC ?
yoda Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 this team will be competitive for sure. yes we all will miss the bald genius. good bye Jayasuriya!
hari504504 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Jayasurya is well past his sell-by date..why is he still not retiring and taking up a coaching role.. He must be ashamed to make himself available for the WC - effectively trying to block the place of a youngster , ie lanka's future.. If i miss his batting, I'd watch some old footage from 96, not hoping for him to be selected in 2010 so that he can wave his bat around like a blind -man,hoping to make contact with the white cherry..

Zelig Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 There is something about the Lankans and WC. They always get horny when the wc is round the corne. :((
pensionplan Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 would've liked to see Jayasuriya, could've been useful batting PP n also his bowling is quite handy on spin friendly wickets.surely better than Pappugadhera or Samaraweera also Vaas looked good in IPL,maybe shoul've been in for FernandoWhy not Roy Dias?
Sachinism Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Randiv should have been selected ahead of Murali or Mendis
Cricketics Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Yes would have loved to see Jayasurya, but then to be fair to the other guys who are picked, they all deserve their chance over surya who has failed consistently.
Lord Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Why not Roy Dias? why the overreation its not like I've named retired cricketers.both r pretty active.n better options than persons competing for thier spot.Jayasuriya with his left arm spin would've been handy, yes his batting has gone down, but its not like Kapugedera has been scoring tons n watched Vaas in the IPL last year.still very good line, length n swing n decent option with the bat, tell me why Fernando is better than him
DeadMan Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Sri Lanka name 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup squad Sri Lankan selectors have named their final 15-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. The squad is as follows: Kumar Sangakkara (captain), Mahela Jayawardene (vice-captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Thilan Samaraweera, Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Dilhara Fernando, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis, Rangana Herath.
ViruRulez Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Good squad but I never understood why Sanga is preferred over Mahela as a captain. I find Mahela a lot more cool tempered and captaincy material compared to Sanga.
Sachin=GOD Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Good squad but I never understood why Sanga is preferred over Mahela as a captain. I find Mahela a lot more cool tempered and captaincy material compared to Sanga. if they loose then Whingakara can always give lots and lots of reason as to why they lost :haha:
