oh well bengal is like that. Should've told them the WC was in 2001 if you wanted the stadium ready by 2011.

i didn't know kriterion was al Furqaan from BC forum. Just realized that. On Topic: AF - the thing is this is mainly CAB who needed to get it going. BCCI is also responsible. Both are at fault here.

Real bad news for those fans who have bought tickets and have made plans. I can't believe that the BCCI simply says it is between the ICC and CAB and they have nothing to do. WTF!
They have a rosy history.

Try running an office in Kolkata' date=' then you'll know.[/quote'] You had an Office in Kolkata? As Texy said before you take digs at Bengal have a look at your own City. Without a Doubt CAB is pathetic and deserve to be blamed, For that do not Generalise the City or State due to some personal vendetta.

Whats BCCI's fault? Its CAB who has to be blamed and its not the first time they made Bengal proud.

Neither CAB nor BCCI's image will be scarred but it'll be India who will come out scathed. This is another major event where we have ***ed up and not fulfilled our promises. If India cannot prepare better for a Cricket World Cup (considering cricket is THE biggest thing in our country), then we do not deserve to host any major events in near future till we get our house under order. We should be ashamed of having been beaten by countries like Qatar, as they take FIFA WC and we're not even ready of dreaming for one :headshake:.

Dude it's quite pathetic that our people cannot ****ing put in the effort despite having ample amount of time in their hands. It is beyond me how could these guys miss the deadline when it was a dead give away that Kolkata will be hosting WC matches as soon as India was declared joint co-host nation for WC. And post-this saga, we're gonna see lot of blame games and no one actually owning up the (ir)responsibility. BCCI says ICC decided these venues and its up to ICC to look after the 'chosen ones', whereas CAB say other venues were given 14 days extension so we are definitely eligible for 10 days :wall:. These ***ing douchebuckets didn't do **** for 4 years but are willing to work overtime so that they get to host the game :wall:.

The preparedness of the stadium apart, non-cricketing reasons like lack of CAB's support to address ICC's concern regarding corporate boxes for their sponsors, locations of the radio commentary team, D/L manager, doping and medical facilities on the grounds etc have played a major role in the match being shifted from Kolkata. Biggest issue is the Corporate boxes for ICC sponsors. Eden's capacity has gone down to 65,000 from 100,000 earlier whereas CAB has got some 45,000 club members who need to be given complimentary passes for matches at Eden!! So blame the fiasco on these freeloaders. Shame really.

BCCI asks ICC to reconsider decision on Eden

NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket board on Friday asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to reconsider its decision of taking away the India-England World Cup match from the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. "We have written a letter to the ICC to reconsider its decision. Now it is up to the ICC to decide, but we are confident that the stadium can host the crucial India-England match," Ratnakar Shetty, tournament director and chief administrative officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said. This comes after Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Jagmohan Dalmiya, also a former ICC president, on Thursday appealed to the BCCI to advise the international body to reconsider its decision. Referring to the 14-day extension given by the ICC to four other venues, including Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium to complete the finishing work, Dalmiya, a former BCCI president and secretary, asked for an extension of 10 days from Thursday up to Feb 7 to hand over a complete Eden Gardens to the game's apex body. Dalmiya's appeal came hours after the ICC ruled out Eden Gardens as a venue for the match, saying it was unprepared. The ICC took the decision following an adverse report from its venue inspection team that visited Kolkata and four other venues earlier this week to review their readiness for the big event being hosted jointly by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka from February 19 to April 2. Dalmiya argued that the ICC decision to take away the Feb 27 match came exactly 30 days before it was scheduled to be held. Apart from the India-England encounter, Eden Gardens is supposed to host three other games -- South Africa vs Ireland (March 15), the Netherlands vs Ireland (March 18), and Zimbabwe vs Kenya (March 20).
