Rajiv Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Used the iphone for 2 years, then realized that I was missing out after I tried android As a cricket lover, first and foremost is the fact I can use flash by simply going to any cricket site and watching the game as is. ( tried in Windows 7 too - didn't work ) Apple makes things idiot proof, so non-tech savvy can use em as well. You can control lots of things in the droid A simple eg., would be Call Block. I can simply long press a number and if they call again, it just disconnects it. And for the iPhone, the same app which I have to buy/download will simply disconnect and throw my vociemail which kinda beats the purpose Built in GPS - its just too good Voice Activation Processor and Speed Droid has lot of open source, you can find many types of settings, custom roms which automates things and I have never had that type of luxury on the iphone. It's focus is more on simplicity and looks whereas Droid gives you lot of control Infact, I read the other day that it took over iPhone in sales
IKnowU Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I have a wp7(omnia 7), and i think it has the best UI. Although it doesnt provide all the options like android it still has features that are too good to miss. I also think android is too open ended in which there is so much of customization you can do and it wont beneficial to majority of the market and the manufactures updates will take forever to be passed onto the customer. At this point in time, it Android >> WP7 >>> Iphone overall. And WP7 >> iphone and android in terms of software to integrate phone. Zune flat out kills itunes and whatever android users use.
Rajiv Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Typically it boils down to what each person likes, I saw WP7 and found its focus was too much on the Mozart Designing, although it looked great - didn't find it practical especially with the Lego style boxes on the main screen I have a colleague who switched from WP7 to Droid, he was like the Windows Mobile Spokesperson and his switching over was equivalent to Bill O' Reilly becoming a Democrat I have never used Zune, but am sure its better than the pain in the butt iTunes. Samsung has a software called Keis which is really bad but again, I prefer the simplicity of copy pasting my music in folders and listening to it that way. The software does its thing with Disc view etc but I only listen to On-line Radio in the car via Bluetooth
DomainK Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I have decided that I would give up my Nokia loyalty and my next change will be an android. The only thing I want to know is which brand hardware will survive the number of times I drop my phone. Nokia is good in that.
Sachin=GOD Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I'm also going for the Android - most probably HTC Desire. I initially thought about the Nokia N8 but I've heard that the Symbian 3 is not much of an improvement over symbian 2 so I've decided to go for an Android because its supposed to be pretty fast and user friendly and obviously also because there are quite a few apps available for Android.

Cricketics Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I am a former G1 phone owner(the first ever android phone), so I have great love for g2 also. But i will recommend Droid X . A very classy phone. Don't get EVO. it's a good phone but it's a cdma. It's with Sprint carrier in U.S which carries mostly cdma stuff. and please wait for Smasung vibrant 4g to come out. It' has the frontal camera and a very good phone. Great screen too. and o unlike iphone, you don't have to be on wifi to do the frontal chat.

Cricketics Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Rajiv, you have the captivate rite?? Which inbuilt MEDIA player you have on the phone. for streamings and all, what do you use. VLC doesn't do too well. X player is pretty good though.
