nsareen Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I see for last couple of months , most of the U19 teams are playing each other. I din't see any U19 match since the world cup. I'm eager to see who are exciting players in the 2011 U19 team. Maybe we come across another Virat Kohli or an exciting Pace Prospect, hopefully not like Unadkat. Anyone following any U19 matches in india ?
nsareen Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 I really liked the look of the other bowler for india Sandeep Sharma from Jalandhar. He was getting banana inswing. Though he was only 16, could develop some more skills like outswing and a yorker along with 5-10 yards of pace. Another player was Netrawalkar, really efficient when the pitch was assisting but really lacked pace.

nsareen Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 agree. U19 team under Virat had lot of exposure, touring Srilanka, South Africa, Australia. I hope they do the same in the future. WE HAVE PROBLEMS with short pitch bowling which can be sorted out in youngsters, not when players become like raina at such later stage in their careers.
nsareen Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 U19 is a good platform to groom a Talent in Asian Teams, we are doing it consistently, right from Yuvraj,Kaif there has always been someone from U19 team representing india in some way. Even if they fade away but they get good exposure. Similar exposure should be during these U19 tours also, wonder why so no team for 2011 when the other teams are playing consistently.

The guy looked class apart from the rest of the batsmen , even mandeep singh , menaria were way low on class against this LAD. He looks like a Yuvraj singh with a shorter height, bowls better than Yuvraj, but can tonk a long Ball. Sad part was he was abit bulky in the U19 tournament, but since then he represented Delhi in couple of Ranji ODI's , dont know where is he now. I thought he would do well in the Ranji Format. Was looking forward to see him play, Any news on him ??

Cant he represent India again in the U19 category ? i thought he can because Ravindra Jadeda did it twice. yeah but a state association can send limited names..PCA didnt send his name as he has already played a U19 WC..maybe they selected him straightway...he has done pretty well for Punjab in Cooch Behar trophy..he may be straight pick...he was pretty good in last WC...swinging and at decent pace around 130 up to 132 at 16 years of age
