Sachin has it in him to win WC for India New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar is by far the greatest batsman of all time and has it in him to single-handedly win a tournament as big as the World Cup, according to former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas.The elegant batsman of the yesteryears said that the Indian team is lucky to have someone like Tendulkar in its ranks. "Though in cricket it's said that no single player can win an event as big as the World Cup for his team, I feel that Sachin has it in him to bring the cup for his country," Abbas said. Abbas had no hesitation in saying that Tendulkar is irreplaceable, and not even the dangerous Virender Sehwag can come anywhere close to the champion batsman from Mumbai. Former India player, Kirti Azad, too, nodded in agreement with Abbas and said that no one is better than Tendulkar. Talking about India's strength during a special World Cup programme on IBN7, Abbas said the current team has an array of strokeplayers who can single-handedly change the course of the game. Azad, a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning side, however, felt that if Sehwag can get off to a good start, no one can stop India from winning. Former India spinner, Maninder Singh felt that skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni should bat at number six as he has matured into an excellent finisher in recent times.

Unless he can bowl for all the crappy bowlers, field more than 3 positions at the same time instead of Nehra, Munaf, Ashwin slowcoach fielders, and compensate for Yuvi-the-great, and Dhoni-tuktuk he cant do it by himself.

One other way to accomplish that on this forum at least IMO is to ignore some of this non sense and stop opening all these threads related to SRT and over hype things for no reason. At this point winning WC is the only thing that matters to SRT and he would be the first to tell that we can do away with some of this BS that goes around for no fault of his.

The following article shows how - regardless of what current/ex cricketers say or do - media just wants to take public for a ride ( hits). As if it comes as a surprise, title of following article is completely irrelevant from the actual content. And also diametrically opposite to the title of this thread. Which again, was reported by same media. KOLKATA: World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev feels comments of Indian cricketers that they want to win the Cup for Sachin Tendulkar is just media hype. Kapil hoped it is the batting maestro who would win the World Cup for India. "'We want to win for Sachin. We want to win for Sachin.' It's the media which is saying again and again. We all want to win. Of course Sachin wants to win. But if you keep on asking everybody if Sachin's dream will come true what will they say? Everybody's dream is same," said Kapil while addressing an event, Power Play, which was also attended by former cricket legends Sourav Ganguly, Vivian Richards and Steve Waugh. Kapil felt depending on one individual will have an adverse effect on the team. "I as a cricketer would not like to depend on one person. At the end of the day it's a team game and the team has to win together," Kapil said. "When you start depending on one player and if anything goes wrong with him your team chokes. I think he has to do it for us. He has to perform for us so that we can cheer for him," he added.
