coffee_rules Posted February 4, 2011 Share Posted February 4, 2011 MUMBAI: Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore seem to be falling back in the race for uncapped cricketers. Chargers have lost Tirumalasetti Suman to Mumbai Indians and RCB are all set to lose Manish Pandey to Sahara Pune Warriors. Suman and Pandey, along with Baroda player Ambati Rayudu, are among the hottest properties as far as the uncapped players in the domestic circuit are concerned. Meanwhile, two franchises it is learnt, approached the Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council (GC)- a third one was interested in joining them but opted out - to request for a change in the rules and regulations of signing uncapped players. However, the GC rejected it and is understood to have stuck to its original idea of a tripartite agreement policy between the player, franchise and the GC. "We agree that there are flaws but still this is the best possible option right now because eventually it gives the player the right to decide which franchise he wants to play for. The flaws pertain to the fee part but for now we are beginning to understand that nothing much can be done about it," an IPL official told TOI. Among other franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders have signed Mumbai spinner Iqbal Abdulla along with all-rounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla and are in talks with Haryana's wicketkeeper-batsman Manvinder Singh Bisla and Delhi all-rounder Rajat Bhatia. Mumbai have formed a good side for themselves with Suman and Ambati in the fray along with R Sathish, Abu Nechim, Aditya Tare and Ali Mortaza among others. Sachin Tendulkar's presence in the MI squad is learnt to be the reason for which the players decided to come on board. Kings XI Punjab have so far retained their former uncapped players in all-rounder Love Ablish, Himachal Pradesh pacer Vikramjeet Malik and Uttar Pradesh left-arm pacer Shalabh Srivastava. Among the new names, Sunny Singh, Nitin Saini and batsman Siddharth Chitnis are on board. Rajasthan Royals have signed Ranji players Ajinkya Rahane, Aakash Chopra, Deepak Chahar, Ashok Menaria and Dishant Yagnik, while Chennai Super Kings are all set to retain left-arm spinner Shadab Jakati, who has been in great demand. Jakati, Pandey, Rayudu, Suman and Sathish were players sought after by more than one franchise. The only franchises yet to reveal their signings so far are Chargers (who had $2.29m (Rs 10 cr) left in their purse after the auction), Delhi Daredevils who had $890,000 (Rs 3.38 cr) left and Kochi who had $1.21m (Rs 5.4 cr) left to spend from. Kochi, the newest franchise in IPL, particularly need to do a lot of running around. The capped players bought at the auction by the franchise include a flurry of spinners and pacers but the team lacks depth in batting. Kochi now have former Maharashtra and current Rajasthan captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar as assistant coach, who will be working with chief coach Geoff Lawson, to bring about a balance.
