satyam1729 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Whichever major cup Dhoni has lifted, there's been a tie in the beginning of the tournament... T-20 WC v/s Pak IPL'10 v/s Kings XI CL'10 v/s Victoria bushrangers Pray that this can be the one.
vvvslaxman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Jinx or not.. that is a good observation.

On the contrary, None of the teams playing the finals in ts own backyard has ever won a worldcup yet..:--D so much for all such positively biased coincidences!

After all India is the only team to win all the ICC trophy ( test, odi, t20)
vvvslaxman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Dhoni defies logic. Just when you completely write him off he would come back with surprises. Just when you hope he will do magic India will lose all 3 matches in 2nd round and get eliminated. Don't expect anything from this team. They could surprise you.
Ascher Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 India will become first. After all India is the only team to win all the ICC trophy ( test' date=' odi, t20)[/quote'] Good luck then!...You really need it with that kind of twisted logic :giggle:

IIRC Aussies were the only team to boycott their matches there.
Ascher Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Sri Lanka won it in 1996. IIRC Aussies were the only team to boycott their matches there. Read again...I said team playing the Final in its own backyard. Srilanka played both the semis and final outside their counrty and yes IIRC one more team gave them a "freebie" in the group stages.

Watson87 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 So we are winning this world cup for sure. I am putting all my ICF on India
NareshK Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 "On the contrary, None of the teams playing the finals in ts own backyard has ever won a worldcup yet.." Well, that's going to change on April 2nd.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Come to think of it, Dhoni has won most of the tourneys under his captaincy once - T20 world cup, CB Series (tr-series) in Aus, Asia Cup, IPL and Champions League. That's a great record to have for a chap who has only captained the last 4 years and was made the captain for all the formats just 3 years back.
Ascher Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 "On the contrary, None of the teams playing the finals in ts own backyard has ever won a worldcup yet.." Well, that's going to change on April 2nd. It would have been better if You had saved this prophecy for April the 1st instead :--D
ganeshran Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Read again...I said team playing the Final in its own backyard. Srilanka played both the semis and final outside their counrty and yes IIRC one more team gave them a "freebie" in the group stages. That statistic has too less a size to indicate a pattern. Only time a team has made it to the final on their homeground is England in 1979. Since the world cups have passed through long phases of individual team dominance - Windies and Aussies, the homeground factor isnt really a big deal as long as the pressure of expectations doesnt get to the team. Aussies were simply too good in 2003 and 2007, and Windies in 75 and 79 that they would have won regardless of where the tournament was held.
Switchblade Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hope that M.s.d wins this one too though Raina was the skipper when c.s.k played kings11 in that tied game
vvvslaxman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 If India somehow miraculously manages to enter into final they will WIN it. Take it from me.
therocky Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 India will win this world cup, We are still the top favorites
Dark Warrior Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Just a thought... Dhoni as a captain... T20 wc - tie against pak Ipl 3 - tie against KXI Punjab Clt20 - tie against Victoria :WTF: Won all 3 tournaments :crazy4:
