saneindian Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 He was hit by a beamer and then cam back to continue batting in nets. Nothing to worry about. BTW England would be wary of even a half fit Yuvi after he hit a 100 despite having a problem in his back during that 2008 series.

But, according to a BCCI release he is currently under medication and is expected to be fit for Sunday's match against England. Sehwag had scored an impressive 175 against Bangladesh in the World Cup's opening match in Dhaka on February 19. Sehwag was one of the first to take strike at the nets at the National Cricket Academy, but his batting session was cut short when a rising delivery from a local fast bowler hit him on the left rib cage. He was taken to the dressing room immediately but fortunately for India, nothing serious was found. Later, he went to the gymnasium and even joined the team during training. Team Manager Ranjib Biswal spoke to media and cleared the air about Sehwag's injury. "He is fit to play. There was no need to even go for scans," said Biswal. Before the batting and bowling session, the Indian cricketers played football for about 45 minutes. Later, the batsmen practised with plastic balls and also had a catching practice session.

Sree hurls a ‘beamer’, close shave for Yuvraj LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI Bangalore: Yuvraj Singh just about escaped a possible major injury when a ‘beamer’ from Sreesanth struck his left hand during Thursday’s practice session at the National Cricket Academy here. “Main bach gaya, aur kya. Boy, I was lucky,†Yuvraj, who has off and on been getting injured for over four years now, told The Telegraph on returning to the Royal Gardenia. Sreesanth did promptly apologise, but Yuvraj wasn’t too impressed. Understandably so. Later, he regained composure and resumed batting. The ‘beamer’, clearly, was the sole talking point at Team India’s extended session in the lead-up to Sunday’s marquee match, against England. “We’ve had some good sessions and I’m happy with the way the players have been gearing up,†coach Gary Kirsten said, speaking exclusively. He didn’t comment on England. “I’m focusing on my team... I did watch England’s opening match (against The Netherlands), but don’t want to discuss the opposition.†Asked if Ashish Nehra was fit, Kirsten replied: “He’s getting there... Shastri seems to be pretty close to the team. I remember couple of years back during tour to Bangladesh' date= he became an acting coach/manager too. I think it's fair to agree to his words than someone else like Gavaskar. I hope Sehwag bowls though. I think after Bhajji, he is certainly our best spinner in the team. The Bangladeshi fans still hate him from that tour.:haha:

Is the pitch supposed to dry up completely in one day or are we going to have a slow, seaming pitch where the odd ball might grip the surface. It'll be terrible for batsmen then!
