theanalyst Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Far too early. Teams have hardly played 2-3 matches. On April 2nd, no one will remember/care about performances against Kenya/Ban/Canada etc. Performances vs the top teams in the league stage and then the knockouts will be the deciding factor. I hope that they don't just count the league stages and ignore the knockouts (like in 1996).
rkk101 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Right now 2 players in contenders list Ab de villers and Shahid Afridi Indian hsan't played it's third match yet, most likely our batsmans would be the one if there would be some. So far all of Sachin, Sehwag and Kohli have centuries. with the tournament less than half the way through I think its a little premature for this thread. Onlu until the end of the first phase when all the teams have played each other can one make an initial judgement. However, at this stage, if I was pushed, I would go for Kev O Brien for that awe inspiring knock against Vlaity babu.
Sid Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 If Viru follows his long innings approach,he will be player of the tournament for sure ,other candidates Retard,ABCD and Watson
Bradman99 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 If Viru follows his long innings approach' date='he will be player of the tournament for sure ,other candidates [b']Retard,ABCD and Watson :haha:
Ranjha Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 lol at afretard being the player of the tournament bowling in spin paradise against the mighty kenyans and canadians. hahahahahaha Player of the torunament so far is Kevin O bRIAN.
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Player of the torunament so far is Kevin O bRIAN. Umm he was man of the match:winky: By your logic, Ahmed Shehzad could well be the player of the tournament if he plays a blinder one day:cantstop:
Ranjha Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Umm he was man of the match:winky: By your logic, Ahmed Shehzad could well be the player of the tournament if he plays a blinder one day:cantstop: Ahmed Sehzad scored one six..Kevin O brian created history with the fastest ever worldcup 100 and won ireland the game from a hopeless situation. DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE? HAHAHAHAHA That innings was the best performance of the worldcup so far...and against a proper test playing nation. AGAINST ALL ODDS. and performance against minnows liek kenya and canada dont count in my books...sorry....too bad for afretard...
Ranjha Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 AND THE KEY WORD IS....SO FAR Kevin O brian beats every tom and dick so far......... Who knows what will happen in a few days. I dont count performances against minnows...only test playing nations and even then I liek to discount performances against bangladesh cuz they suck....only performances against proper teams.
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 That's why he was man of the match you tee arr oo ell ell One match wonders don't count in the end :P
Ranjha Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 :yay:That's why he was man of the match you tee arr oo ell ell One match wonders don't count in the end :P Afretard is also a one match wonder for me so far...against srilanka.. kenya and canada dont count. and afridi did it in a spin paradise and it wasnt against all odds and not even 1/2 the performance of kevin big boy. Kevin o brian rapes him as far as player of tournament is considered so far.
ganeshran Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Too early to start making predictions for man of the series. The matches in the knockout stage are given far more weightage than the group games.
SachDan Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 With 284 runs and 11 wickets, Yuvraj leads the race for the player of the series :two_thumbs_up:
Hell Raiser Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Yuvi is right up there with his all round performance.
Sid Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Yuvi is in the race and has a great history with Man of the Series awards
nballa Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 its sachin no doubt about it. two centuries against two top teams.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Yuvi, Tendulkar, Zaheer and Sehwag are in the hunt from an Indian perspective.
Bumper Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Too early to predict. But I don't think we should look at most wickets or most runs to decide the player of the tournament. Rather i'd like look at how many influential performances has a player produced. I think Yuvraj in that sense is very much a front runner. 9 wickets @ 25 at an E/R of 5.00 (bloody good for a part timer) 284 runs @ 95 at a S/R of 86 (one 100 & three 50s) 2 MoMs
