Whatever be the result of the match, whatever be the execution by Sri Lanka - those Lankans sure know how to use home pitch advantage Prepare a dry turner against Aus, and then play 3 spinners (Muralitharan, Mendis and Herath). They won the toss as an added advantage, but lets leave the toss out. As I said, no matter how the match ends up, the fact that they try to drive strong the home pitch advantage esp against main teams like Aus is clear. Will India ever take a leaf out of the Lankans? We keep preparing pattas :banghead: Get some slow, dry turners against the SAffers, Windies and for most matches (except against Lankans!). But our curators / BCCI / team mgmt (some combo of this) do not drive home advantage in Indian pitches except for warmup match at Bangalore

As I said, I am not so concerned about end result - but these guys prepare turners (or at least they are intending and trying - how it turns out will only know when the match is played), and India needs to look at that.

Sri Lanka will win this easily. Australia's batting order is not even a shadow of their former team and they struggle against spin. I dont think they have too much experience playing in Sri Lanka either. If they had Michael Hussey, they may have had a sniff.

Aussie will struggle against the likes of Experienced Murali, still a mystery Mendis(at least for the Oz :D), and the ever consistent Herath. But the point here is that those tracks are Spinner-friendly and not absolute paataas like we have in India. Plus of course, the boundaries are more than 80 meters, so the spinner can attack by tossing it up a little more. So its insane to go in with 3 spinners coz it will hardly make a difference if the conditions are not all that conducive, and you will be gambling by taking one batsman less

this is a stupid OP. home teams have NO SAY in the kind of pitch they are going to get. the pitches are the responsibility of the ICC. sri lanka didnt 'prepare' anything.

Yes, and our weakness is bowling. We need to get some spin pitches to exploit the home conditions. This thread is more about pitches, then India can go with 2+2 (pace, spin) attack.
