Link Cape Town - The Proteas suffered their first injury setback of the Cricket World Cup campaign when leg-spinner Imran Tahir was confirmed to have suffered an undisplaced fracture in his left thumb.“Imran injured himself during the game against England while attempting the caught and bowled, which dismissed Jonathan Trott,” commented Proteas’ manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee. “The X-ray that was done on Wednesday revealed a small undisplaced fracture in his left thumb. The images have been sent home to Cricket South Africa's medical committee and we are waiting for the hand specialist, Dr Mike Solomons, to give us an opinion. “His thumb has been splintered and immobilised and a decision on what happens further will be made in the next two days.

Maybe he learnt from Afridi :hehe:
have u seen him the way he runs thumping his chest after taking a wicket i know every bowler has his way of celebrating but it looks as if he is tying too hard to prove that he is a saffer his celebration is very unrealistic in my opinion

Well, if he does miss out, you could always enjoy watching Chawla getting hit all round the park !!

It's the left thumb. Don't think it should be a problem. His main job is to bowl and he doesn't need his left arm at all. He's been bowling really well for SA. Looks like only India can undress him atm

I hope Tahir plays against us so that we know what to expect in case we meet SA again in the tourney. Plus we all know what rookie bowlers playing their first game do to our batting, especially Tendulkar :winky:

Tahir advised ten days' rest after fracturing thumb Link Imran Tahir, South Africa's Pakistan-born legspinner, has been advised ten days' rest to deal with a fractured left thumb but the selection committee will decide when that period should be. He is definitely not out of the tournament, the team manager Mohammed Moosajee said on Thursday. South Africa play India on Saturday, and in the ten days between that match and the first quarter-final they play Ireland and Bangladesh. Tahir sustained the injury - which was not to his bowling hand - while catching England's Jonathan Trott off his own bowling on Sunday. He is South Africa's leading wicket-taker in tournament, with 11 so far.
