patriot Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I clearly remember Bhajji chickening out of bowling the last over of T20 world cup final against Pak, which was famously bowled by Joginder Sharma. I saw reluctance on his face yet again in bowling the final over. Nehra must never bowl for India again and if Dhoni does not play Ashwin in the match against WI, his sorry as.s must be replaced as captain.
jonas10 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I dont know why you are bashing India's most economic bowler. He even took wickets today which everyone has been on his case about.
littlemaster1982 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I've always been critical of Bhajji, but he really bowled well today. Also he was reluctant to bowl the last over in T20 final because he was hit for 3 consecutive sixes by Misbah. No such thing happened today for him to refuse bowling the last over.
Sid Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Left hander on strike, who is useless against spin and you have an experienced off spinner with you to bowl and you go with a trundler par excellence ,massive brain fart by Dhoni .
HowardRoark Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I doubt Bhajji would have backed out of the challenge. Defending 13 runs is not an impossible task for a bowler of Bhajji's calibre.
patriot Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Bhajji is India's most economical bowler and by far the most experienced. Wonder why he backs out of bowling the death overs. I can't believe SA lower order and tail enders would have been able to score 14 runs of his bowling. He had chickened out of bowling the final over in T20 final as well despite being India's most economical bowler. I remember a time when Saqlain Mushtaq was the best death bowler in the world and used to bowl the final overs even ahead of renowned yorker and death bowling specialists like Akram and Chukhtar. Bhajji/Zak should take responsibility of bowling the last over in such close contests.
zen Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 It is easy to speak in hindsight .... If Bhajji had bowled, the result could still have been same .... Say Peterson takes a single and then Duplex (or whatever) hits a couple of big one .... Sajid Ajmal getting smashed by Hussey in T20 is a good example Unless you have someone like Murali, the chances of getting runs of a spinner are high. Only time I remember when a spinner did well was when Tendulkar bowed that over in Hero cup (1993 iirc) but the surface favored spinners a lot more
cowboysfan Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 are you guys serious? you dont want your spinner bowling the last over in a tight chase, not even if its murali or warne.

Sir john Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 bhajji will be easy pick up for batsman i think.

It was dibbly dobbly seam ups.
Ravi. Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 No idea but Bhajji se ummeed thi ki rok lega par Nehra se toh koi ummed nahi thi.
mastana Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 No idea but Bhajji se ummeed thi ki rok lega par Nehra se toh koi ummed nahi thi. Nehra se peshab roka nahi jata runs kya khaak rokegaa.
zen Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Dont tell me you are comparing Peterson or FAF to Hussey AND Sach didnt bowl spin in Hero Cup' date='he bowled seamers :winky:[/quote'] You guys don't read, properly don't you "Say Peterson takes a single and then Duplex (or whatever) hits a couple of big one" From what I remember, Sachin mixed all up in that over. He even bowled leg spin, if my memory serves me right .... But if he didn't then it makes the case for spinners even weaker

But if he didn't then it makes the case for spinners even weak I said FAF ,I think you didnt read my post and in this case pitch was slow and Nehra hadnt bowled for the last 10-15 overs and Bhajji was bowling well,so going with Bhajji would have logical
spectre Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 He should have given it to Yusuf Pathan. This guy can fire in the darts and its hard to hit those easily, just like he did that for RR on many instances. I dont understand why Dhoni didnt see that. If Raina was there, he would have surely gone with him.
zen Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I think earlier he was criticized for bowling a spinner (who probably had bowled well in the game) in the super over in CL ..... Now he is being criticized for bowling a seamer :giggle: Appears as if it is hard to give credit to SA :P
Stuge Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 well ,it wasn't big decision to give ball to bhajji ,but dhoni had some other sillly ideas :(
asterix Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Bhajji was ready to bowl..Dhoni changed his mind at the last moment..
