you strategize keeping the opposition in mind. The windies were all at sea against any type of spin... the less said of Aussies against spin the better. But now we're looking at a face-off vs subcontiental teams (if SL gets knocked out then all is well and good) Else..I am a little nervous of him vs Pak ....or vs Srilanka in the finals. :(( Although you guys are right.. the guy has shored up our bowling from the moment he came in.
He has not even bowled one ball. You already use mathematical formula and find that he would suck against Pakistan? :cantstop: ... Do you realize Nathan mccullum opened against Pakistan? Peterson opened against us?

^ Isn't it better than having a whine thread after someone's been hit around the park..? anyway I am not making any emphatic statement.. just putting it up for discussion.
What if Nehra gets hit around or Sree gets hit around .. and call for DHoni's head. Works two ways. It is not like we have Malcom Marshall, Glen Mcgrath sitting in the bench. These are junk bowlers.

He is our only confident spin bowler who looks like taking wickets instead of darting around. Sure he might go for runs. But he is there to take wickets. Also... Pakistan is not a team that is known for attacking from the outset. They still follow the 1980s approach of keeping the wickets in hand and attacking later.

Ok' date=' so we drop one of our best bowlers over the last 2 games. And who do we replace him with? Chawla? ppl gotta stop smoking whatever they are before creating a thread![/quote'] :haha: Chawla got hit around by Pakistanis last time. They have seen him already. Ashwin is new. Not many players have faced him. That in itself is an advantage.

Tottaly agree. He bowls aggresivly unlike Harbhajan and doesnt give too many bad deliveries like Nehra, sree or Chawla. I really like his body language when he gets hit for runs. He never panickes despite being a young bowler playing in his first world cup. Plus apparently he can bat a bit as well. That could be crucial if it comes down to the wire.
