Great Captaincy today

Finally a brave captaincy by Dhoni. Having Sachin bowl leg breaks and Kohli medium was a stroke of genius.
Don't think bowling Kohli was such a good idea.

Nice to see a thread lauding Dhoni's captaincy yesterday. It was about time we got to see his legendary shrewdness. Now only if he'd start committing harakiri with his bat from now on...

great captaincy, first to pick Raina, then onfield, applying pressure throughout, though I thought he bowled Munaf for 2 overs too many:--D

He did some very clever things like giving part timers only 1 over spells. As aussies were weighing part timers up and would surely have gone after them in 2nd over, yet he sneaked in 1 over spell were they did not go for much. Smart

Aussies had to take chances to score boundaries, field placing was good. Right fielder at right places. That where Aussies lost wickets to go over the top, Watson, Haddin, clarke, etc tried to break the shackles but got out. Ponting did try but succeeded, but Ponting always had to take some risk.

His captaincy was superb to honest. Really sharp and accurate. Also backed up by some amazing fielding!
Agree. His field settings and bowling changes were excellent. But I feel he should give Bhajji a leg slip instead of a short squareleg. Few balls from bhajji went through the leg slip area. Bhajji could've got a wicket there. :hatsoff:

Excellent captaincy bu Dhoni - the field placings, the bowling changes and the masterstroke of bringing Raina for Yusuf all worked superbly. Hoping for such good captaincy in just 2 more matches in this WC

Good to see some positive vibes here. There was too much of negativity on the forum before the QF, people calling for Dhoni to be sacked, questioning Kirsten's contribution, team selection etc. Finally everyone seems to be backing Team India again. Great to see that.

I was very surprised to see him bowling Sachin and Kohli' date=' it kinda paid off, they didn't give many runs and I guess it confused the Aussies[/quote'] Yeah, that was a good move. Although I was a bit surprised when he did'nt give the ball to Raina.

Good point. That phase was very cleverly handled by Dhoni and by the time the Aussies could have figured out what was going on, the specialist bowlers were back on for the last few overs. Ashwin's performances when the field restrictions are on have made such a big difference to the complexion of the attack. Now if we can just get two good performances from the second seamer somehow...

We may actually see him bowl more in the semis and finals. The way he bowled those 2 overs showed that he still can get the ball to talk if he wants to.

He did bowl a few loose deliveries, but luckily they weren't put away
