kabira Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Dhoni finally learned some lessons from group stage. He never allowed easy singles, always attacked with spinners, even at short leg and slip late in the innings. Thats the reason Aussies never actually got away. We took wickets at regular intervals. We fielded well. Credit to him??
Aaku Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Its annoying how after every match he is tagged either as a 'stubborn' or a 'great' captain. Please get a grip ! Hes awesome and we are soo getting the cup under his captaincy :two_thumbs_up:

Most are Dada's loyal supporters, if he wins the World Cup Dada's fans will go and hide in their cave just like how they are hiding now :hysterical:

Dark Warrior Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Sometimes i wonder whether he was deliberately trying to be mediocre. THis is in complete contrast what we saw in the preliminary rounds. This.
Sooda Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Retaining Zaheer and Bhajj for the most part to the end of the oppo innings have made our death bolwing performances a darn slight better.
flamy Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Sometimes i wonder whether he was deliberately trying to be mediocre. THis is in complete contrast what we saw in the preliminary rounds. I was talking with goona and daisy abt this in chat. kinda like that CI article, which talked about lulling the opposition and playing down the favourites tag.
Rajma Chawal Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 He was very pro-active today, like his earlier days as captain. Great to see, I really hope it continues.

Malik_Bhai Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 fielding was good, but he failed when it counted as a batsman. i hope he drops munaf against the paks and starts raina ahead of him. TENDULKAR SEHWAG GAMBHIR KOHLI YUVRAJ RAINA YUSUF DHONI ASHWIN HARBHAJAN ZAHEER
fineleg Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Sometimes i wonder whether he was deliberately trying to be mediocre. THis is in complete contrast what we saw in the preliminary rounds. It was not deliberate. He made mistakes and he is rectifying some of those. Nothing deliberate. Some credit for Gary Kirsten too perhaps.

Anakin Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 He did make lots of mistakes in prev matches, thankfully, some body talked some sense in him.
Guest Gunner Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 If that was the case.. i have to say that would be almost like "Greatest trick devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist" Its an old hustling trick, if you played local cricket against unknown teams you would know about it. You always bat worse in the warm ups etc to let them get comfortable and then lights out. :winky:
Prakat Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Glad there is a thread recognizing that his captaincy during the ozzie batting was impeccable. Even though Ponting was in the middle for most of it and scored a ton, they never looked in control or took the game away from us. That is some top-order on-field gaming.
jpkonline Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 he took league matches lightly as he said he did not set attacking field in the league matches due to the fear some might get injured early but yesterday he was attacking well captaincy was good hope he performs with the bat too
jonas10 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Finally a brave captaincy by Dhoni. Having Sachin bowl leg breaks and Kohli medium was a stroke of genius. He was really aggressive and trying for wickets. Best fielding by India in a long time. Ashwin looks fantastic protecting the boundary.
