When Tendulkar came to the scene, people called him the next Gavaskar. Had he tried to become another Gavaskar, he would have definitely fallen short. But he decided to remain Tendulkar and became greater than Gavaskar. New kids should be encouraged to create their own identity. No one can become another person. Anyone who tries to do that, fails.

The only things all these records from Mumbai show is that they might be a good team in the Ranjis in the future and might again take the edge from Delhi over sending cricketers to the national team. But that is 5-10 years away to say the least as most of those records are kids from schools in interschool tournaments. Wish all those kids best of luck and hope that they can contribute towards the nation in the future.

Anyone who tries to do that, fails. ++ The only deviation from that rule was Veeru who wanted to be Sachin and he has made his own name even after he was called a carbon copy of Sachin at the start. BTW in regards to Gavaskar Tendular, I think Gavaskar also personally wrote a letter to Sachin during those school and U-15 days where he mentioned that Sachin should not take much pressure and concentrate on his cricket freely. He told him not to get disheartened by failures and always give his best. He also told him to concentrate on his studies too as that is also needed in life. Great words from one little master and legend to another little master and legend. :hatsoff:

Because he was a prolific batsman and one of the biggest prospects even during his U-12 years. If I remember correctly he used to match and play better than even the senior players of the Mumbai team. He used to create records after records and even during his U-12 years he was already also included in the U-15 and U-19 teams even after such a big age difference. In a way he was a legend in the making. The difference between the kids performing now in this OP and several ones in the past few years which made media headlines and Sachin during his school days was that these guys perform once in a tournament but Sachin used to perform at an astounding rate in every tournament and match he played. His consistency was one of the main reasons he was cited as the next Gavaskar during his school days itself.
