flamy Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 must have one lame life if thats the purpose!! :giggle: well, i'm kept pretty busy
ravishingravi Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I think after last night I conceded that no team and no captain can handle the pressure like Dhoni and this Indian team can. I am not sure how many are here from India esp. from Mumbai and watching the coverage. It is unbelievable pressure.
Roshanrocks Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;groupby=captains;orderby=win_loss_ratio;template=results;type=team To rest: :finger: :D You like refers to achievements in the test match arena. Unfortunately the data is not conclusive. Compared to the other captains Dhoni has captained the side on a relatively low number of test matches.. Dhoni has won 14 out of 24 (45%). But if you check the statistic table, there are 13 captains who captained their teams in more than 40 tests, and of these 5 have an average of more than 40% with the incredible Steve Waugh winning 41 out of 57(43.11 %) SO Dhoni has to play another 33 tests and win 23 to equal Waugh. And on the other hand DHoni dare not lose more than 6 matches or he will be behind Waugh So just in the test arena Dhoni has a lot to do to conclusively prove his greatness to us normal Dhoni fans :girl_sigh: OK so any more statistics?

Greatest w\l ratio is only one of his achievements, there are lots more as mentioned. You asked for the stat, I provided it.:dontknow:. For me, W\l ratio is more important than wins\(total matches) ratio. Till now, Dhoni record has been great and he hasn't lost any series. Another appreciable thing is that Most of the test victories are against bigger teams, only 1 against Bangladesh. Dhoni has got to be one of the coolest captains ever and one of the greatest in soaking in the pressure, in facilitating all the other players to perform at their best and in work ethic, all of which reflects in the numbers....

Give more statistics yaar, anything to prove your points :(( , maybe some batting records which no captain has, or something and regarding the ratio thingy, there are 7 captains ahead of him in the stats ur urslef provided :((
vaibhav_delhi Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 yaar we need conclusive evidence... not emotions' date= feelings and stuff like that. Give more statistics yaar, anything to prove your points :(( , maybe some batting records which no captain has, or something :haha:...sorry bro, but thats a childish post. you won't find 'conclusive evidence' of many things in cricket. You can't even define 'conclusive evidence' in captaincy.
vaibhav_delhi Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 and regarding the ratio thingy, there are 7 captains ahead of him in the stats ur urslef provided :(( wrong, there's only 2 ahead of him. check again.
Roshanrocks Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 wrong' date=' there's only 2 ahead of him. check again.[/quote'] Oh yes ur right!!!! :woot: but there are 27 captains ahead of him in ODI's So much for history of cricket :((
vaibhav_delhi Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Oh yes ur right!!!! :woot: but there are 27 captains ahead of him in ODI's So much for history of cricket :(( well, he is regarded as THE best captain in the world currently by comfortable margin by most cricket experts. Dont think its Over the Top to consider him as one of the greatest ever. Thats why this thread. And obviously, Test cricket > ODI cricket.
ganeshran Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011  Dhoni is a very good captain but not yet attained the legend or greatest status, just as yet.

vaibhav_delhi Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Best now == Greatest in history of cricket??? :hmmmm2: for me, Dhoni > any captain that I've seen (waugh, fleming, hussain, pontiing etc) . You could also post names of the captains tht you think are better than Dhoni.:dontknow:
vaibhav_delhi Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 World' date=' not sure. [b']India, miles better. very good Shane!!

Ranjha Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Dhoni is not the greatest captain in the world. He will be the best indian captain if India wins the wc...he is extremly cool and calm and also has luck and great team on his side. Certainly the best man from the playing xi to lead us.
