Karan114 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 We might as well Virat for the 3rd test since the other alternatives also don't figure in the squad to England. One thing we can do though is promote Raina ahead of Kohli or whoever takes his place in the 3rd test. Because atm we are putting a lot of pressure on our last batting pair ALL the time (Dhoni doesn't count as a batsman for this series). Yeah, Kohli has been poor but I'm not enthused by Badri at all. Still, he might get a chance at Dominica now. Agree about promoting Raina to 5.
CSK Fan Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Is it true that he has been dropped from the England squad?
CSK Fan Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Kohli will be selected for the 3rd test. The Indian team management have fallen for the same hype that otherwise sane fans such as Cricketics have- if you wage war on a shaving razor' date=' blow kisses as at 90 mph opposition bowler who's just made you look like an idiot, mouth inanities about Tendulkar's greatness, you get a passport to the Indian hall of fame- unlimited opportunities,an indestructible myth about non-existent talent...doesn't matter if you can't bat for tuppence.[/quote'] Yes someone who has shown consistant performances and temprament in the chances in ODIs he got, should not even be given at least three tests to prove himself. In fact every yonungster we ever pick should be dropped after their very first test
Karan114 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Is it true that he has been dropped from the England squad? Yes. Yuvraj has replaced him.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Kohli has shown he has temperament for the intl game. It is way too much to expect for a youngster making his Test debut and playing on these kind of pitches to score bunch of runs. Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two of the most talented youngsters and need to be persisted with. Do remember how Atapattu started his Test career - with 1 run in first 6 innings or Steve Waugh who scored his first Test 100 after 3 years. Sometime you have to go with your gut and invest in a player if you think the player has the right stuff and you need to back him. Kohli has barely played 2 Tests on pitches where 300 has looked like 600 and folks are already asking for his head. Kohli shut up his detractors by improving his odi to such an extent that he's a regular in odis and I'm sure he will do the same in Tests as well.
Prakat Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Why this Kohli-veri Di?? Lets all shout bench0d in honour of the original abuser!!!!

Prakat Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 34.6 Malinga to Kohli, FOUR, 143.7 kph, gosh, I am tired just describing this over. Spare a thought for Malinga. Another low full toss on the toes, you know the rest. This is horrid bowling in the Powerplay, with fine leg in the circle. Kohli has 122 off 81 balls. 34.5 Malinga to Kohli, FOUR, 141.8 kph, If you are the Bellerive Oval, you are seeing the world's best death bowler being butchered. Kohli gets another low full toss on his toes and flicks it behind square leg for another four. Great batting, turning the pressure back on a nerveless bowler. A normally nervesless bowler. 34.4 Malinga to Kohli, FOUR, 143.6 kph, he's shredded Malinga. Absolute battering this now. This is almost the perfect yorker, it tails in and hurtles towards the toes. Kohli's bat comes down decisively, taking advantage of a missed inch of length. Four through fine leg. 34.3 Malinga to Kohli, FOUR, 141.5 kph, take cover in the covers! Pitched up outside off stump, and Kohli smashes it between cover and mid-off. Malinga squints as he follows the path of the ball. 34.2 Malinga to Kohli, SIX, 142.8 kph, Gambhir won't mind this. It could end in the 38th over. Length, length, listless length ball on the pads, Kohli's wrists do the rest and send them into the night sky. They land in the grassbanks again. 34.1 Malinga to Kohli, 2 runs, 140.4 kph, he smiles. He doesn't curse, he smiles. Kohli has played the innings of his life. Malinga goes full on middle and leg, Kohli flicks into the deep and hurries back for the second. And he soaks in the atmosphere. Take a bow, Kohli!
Prakat Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 lol Malinga raped and brought down to size!!!! :hehe:
amiret Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 One of the best batting performances by an Indian Batsman in an ODI. Kohli has played an innings as good as any innings played by Sehwag,Ganguly or Sachin
