What a #$%@#$ that guy is. Even the people sitting next to me were like huuuuuuuuh.. sreesanth? Zak was bowling superbly from one end, trying to make amends to what he did in the last WC final. 3 consecutive maidens, and then a wicket from the next over. How does it get better than that? But this ******* is releasing all the pressure by giving 10, 14 runs in an over. So I was really pissed at this monkey. After about the 35th over, he was booed every time he got the ball. (He was also booed when he got his WC winners medal, something which I felt was not cool..)

If a mediocre talent like Zak can be so effective think of all those things Sree could do with all his speed,seam position and steep bounce.He needs encouragement not @#*& from non achievers like you. As far as booing is concerned what a shame. How can people boo a fellow countreyman under so much pressure in such an important match????But Mumbai is a different case altogether I see. Mumbai can go as far as booing its greatest son just because he had a torrid run in a few matches. Junglees who resort to all this nonsense should be simply thrown out of the stadium. Oh wait!!!!!!This is Mumbai , Put yourself in Symonds' place and how would you feel. Hope this is the last time Mumbai gets to host such a high profile match. Chepauk has the most knowledgeable crowd in Asia,the most sporting pitch,a great history and deserves to host the next big match in Indian soil.

Talent alone does'nt mean everything - ask Vinod Kambli. You have to have temperament and a proper attitude to go with it and the truth is that Sree simply does not have theese right now. As for having potential, well even Irfan Pathan had lots of potential, even Ishant Sharma has lots and lots of potential - where are they right now in the scheme of things for Indian cricket?? Sree should be thanking his stars that due to an unfortunate injury to PK he got this opportunity to be a part of a WC winning squad. His contribution to this side can be measured by his bowling figures for the tournament : 13-0-105-0

Dude, he single handedly almost lost the game for us. What do you expect me to call him.. Class act? Bravo? I know you had it in you, it just didnt come out today? And as for the sheet you're talking about Mumbai, realize the value of a crowd that actually wants the team to win, not just one that is going to clap for everything. This is something like the crowd being the 12th man. People actually want the team to WIN, not just watch the game thinking its a movie and clapping at the good shots. Hear what Dhoni, Yuvraj, and Sachin said about the crowd yesterday. If you come to Mumbai, be prepared to know that you are not going to be supported if you are not the home team. Pakistan will NEVER be able to take a victory lap in Mumbai. That is both a good thing and a bad thing. As for chepauk getting to host high profile matches.. :cantstop: By the way, the symonds thing was a racist act, and can happen anywhere. It's not like the whole stadium was doing that. It was one or two people, and they were ejected from the stadium and taken to the police station. Yesterday, there were strict warnings everywhere.

I still haven't lost hope in Sree. He may be our solution to fast bowling woes. He can touch 145 kph consistently and has the best seam position in the world(reminds me of Hadlee). He has won us 2 tests in RSA which is unprecedented in Indian cricketing history. If Dhoni stops scolding him in public, if Bhajji stops slapping him in public,If SRT starts mentoring him the way Imran did for Paki pacers,etc etc we may unearth a truly devastating prospect capable of running through batting orders. Look at Steyn. In his first 2 years he had an economy rate of 6-7. That is because he had a mentality just like Sree,he bowled too full and tried to take wickets every ball. He was ruthlessly punished in every ODI he played. But Smith and co always backed him.Today look at Steyn. If only Dhoni had the balls to bowl Sree with 2 slips and 2 gullies,batsmen would have to take a huge gamble in driving him. Right now they drive him with no fear. Imagine what Sree could do with an attacking field. He is the only strike bowler we have had in decades. The rest are wannabe economical line and length trundlers. If he gains Dhoni's confidence and sorts out his mental issues 90% of our bowling problems will be solved and we may finally think of world dominance for a decent time span. This is where Sachin enters the picture. He HAS to mentor Sreesanth,He HAS to be like what Imran Khan was in his last few years in cricket.

2nd April 2011 I had set the alarm for 8 am, but I didn't get up till 10am. Took a hell of a long time to get ready. A WC final doesn't come everyday. You can never be sure if you are under dressed or over dressed for it. Co-ordinated with my friends and left home at 11pm. Carried along an Indian flag, a few crackers ( in the shape of a make up kit) and my purse and my cell. Nothing else was allowed in the stadium. On our way to the stadium, you could already hear the cheers of thousands and thousands of people. The security detail at the entry identified the crackers and I couldn't take them inside. When we found our seats in our stand, people were doing this wave thing and we joined in. Everyone was screaming Sachin, Sachin...... This group of some 10 teenagers were running with a giant India flag shouting Bharat Mata ki Jai from row to row. Then it was time for the anthems. They played the Lankan one first which was rather long. There was pin drop silence and respect for their anthem. We Indians are such a well behaved lot. One of the best feelings of the day for me was when they played out our anthem. The flags waving, the band and the music blaring the anthem and 30,000 of us singing it in unison. It does wonders to your soul. It has such an effect. It makes you so proud, so confident. You just feel like you can take on the whole world at that point of time. That was such a 'top of the world' feeling. 30,000 people people forgetting everything else and singing the anthem. Wonderful feeling. United we can make great strides. The giant screen showed the players singing too. By the time the anthem ended, I was already in tears. Unexplainable. irrational tears. The whole toss mess, I didn't exactly follow.I had gone to look for stuff to eat and drink at that time. The SL innings started and we were off to a flying start thanks to Zaheer. People had made this silly rhyme with kheer, heer, lakeer and Zaheer. I forgot what it exactly was, but the whole stadium kept repeating that when he got his 1st wicket. When Sree came on to bowl and got splattered around you could hear groups chanting " We want bhajji" not because they wanted Bhajji to bowl but in reference to the 'thappad' . :D Sree was boo-ed a bit which I found a bit harsh. The best part of the SL innings was when Sachin came to bowl. The entire stadium, a cauldron of blue, erupted into Sachin Sachin chants. Aditya Panscholi was in our stand and he was going batshit crazy. He was standing on his seat ( very comfy ones, with good leg space) and waving his India jersey a la Ganguly. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a physique worth showing off anymore. My friend, who is generally very unemotional/detached had a lump in his throat when Sachin came to bowl. 30,000 of us willed Sachin to succeed. They played a famous Marathi song after Sachin's over and even the uncle aunties were dancing. The rest of the SL innings had nothing great. When Sehwag got out lbw to Malinga, we were all shocked. Pin drop silence. When Sachin was caught behind you could literally hear Malinga squealing. So many were crying thinking the game is over. A few idiots even left the stadium. On came Gambhir and batted wonderfully with Kohli. Kohli was caught by Dilshan who sledged at him after taking the catch. After that whenever the ball went to Dilshan either while he was fielding or bowling the crowd hurled the choicest of Hindi, Marathi, Gujju & Englsih abuses at him. I saw a youngster who looked no more than 10 years going all maa behan on Dilshan. Even the cops were aaila maila whenever he came on. We were shocked to see Dhoni promote himself. But there is a saying, cometh the hour cometh the man. Dhoni played brilliantly. That we all saw. He and Gambhir took the game away from SL. By now people were dancing when songs were played between the overs. Gambhir went out unnecessarily and on came Yuvraj. As holy said, after Sachin its Yuvi and Bhajji who got the biggest support form the crowd. In the first over he hit a 4 from a Lankan bowler and they started with songs from SIngh is King. And these two eventually got us across the 274 mark. The entire stadium was in tears. People screaming, screeching and crying together. People hugging each other and jumping up and down. People on their knees looking towards heavens with tears streaking down their cheeks. Cried for the second time that night. This time it were tears of pride. The Sachin and Kirsten lap of honour were absolutely emotional moments. I'm not even a big Sachin fan but I coulnd't control my self. There was this mini interview with Yuvi, Zaheer and Sachin where they were complimenting each other. Thats when I realized that this is not just a selection of supremely talented individuals. This is a team. In the real spirit of the word. They have one aim. They had a goal and they achieved it trusting each other. Screamed like mad when Dhoni went to collect the trophy. If someone gave you a fiver for each time I shouted Sachin or India, you would be a millionaire by now. A career in singing is not an option for me anymore. Partied till early morning. Just came to know today that my parents were in the same stand as I was but in a different section. Was so much fun sharing the experiences with them.

Agree with everything. But he himself is not helping his case when he does all those histrionics on field, over acting, over appealing, getting into confrontation with opposition players etc. I think it was Michael Holding who said this about Sree - "if after being in international cricket for 5-6 years, he still has'nt managed to sort out his attitude and temperament problems, then nobody can help him". He is currently the most talented among all of India's pacers like Ishant, PK, RP Singh, Munaf, Nehra etc and if he can sort out his problems then he the solution to a lot of out bowling woes. Its sad to see such a talent being wasted :(( Also, I don't know why or how is it that Sreesanth in ODIs and Sreesanth in Tests are 2 completely different bowlers.

People in the stands were going crazy. My whole stand cried. That was when I realized the meaning of “ they’re dancing in the isles.” It was pandemonium. The whole thing is a blur right now. Marine drive was going bonkers. I had a random dude come up to me and give me a bar of chocolate and a smile. People were dancing all over the streets; flags were out, people dancing on the roof of moving cars, etc. It had to be seen to be believed. I don’t even need to get into the usual.. “Sachinnnnn Sachinnnn” chants and the intensity. I have been to quite a few games. Lots of normal ODI’s, lots of IPL games, IPL 1 semis and finals, IPL 3 finals, Yankees games, footy etc etc. Nothing comes close to this. I have never seen so many people go bonkers like this. It wouldn’t even happen if we won a war. It was like everyone had just won the lottery. Best day ever!:two_thumbs_up:

One dude comes up searching for his seat. He looks at a cop' date=' shows him his ticket, and asks him where his seat his. Now he’s already climbed up 4 flights of stairs, and now the cop tells him his seat is all the way up within the stand. So the dude, who is facing the stand, looking at his seat.. mutters… “Hey Bhagwan”.. (Oh god!). [b']The cop immediately taps him on his shoulder, and tells him to turn around. Once he does that, the cop points to Sachin fielding at mid off, and says with a smile.. “Bhagwan tikde aahe” (God is over there…). :hehe:
