ravishingravi Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I knew it. This is like enticing MF available with the most impossible "conditions apply" http://www.sify.com/movies/poonam-s-strip-offer-not-for-all-only-team-india-news-bollywood-ledskleijfg.html?tag=poonam%20pandey
Mr_Rat Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Kya yaar I have been waiting next to my computer with a box of Kleenex ready to go :haha:
Dark Warrior Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 We are Team India till we die... Isn't it? :(( :sniffle:
Ram Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 She may gotten exactly what she wanted (cheap publicity/instant celebrity status), but I hope paused a little to mull the consequences of her actions. Already women are treated like commodities, actions like these will only go towards reinforcing those stereotypes.
flamy Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 ^ That's sad. Why should she not do what she wants with her life and think how it can affect a whole gender? Either way, why the puck would Team India want to do anything with her? Maybe Sreesanth :hehe:
Ram Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 ^ That's sad. Why should she not do what she wants with her life and think how it can affect a whole gender? Either way, why the puck would Team India want to do anything with her? Maybe Sreesanth :hehe: Because her sexuality/gender is central to what she says she would do. She didn’t say, I, Poonam, will go give the Indian team an inspirational speech or I will abuse them with the worst maa-bhen gaalis if they lose. In that case, what she did or said would simply be on her. She said she was going to strip (of course, she wasn’t ever going to, it was purely a gimmick). If you’re telling me that if it doesn’t women in poor light, I will not agree with that. I am sure there are plenty of self-respecting women going around who would be offended by her actions.
ravishingravi Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 ^The truth is Morris while objectification of women is something I am not in favour, it has existed for ages both for men and women. A woman also has traditionally used here demeanour and her body as way to keep man's attention. So, it is a bit of hypocrisy on part of men esp. women who deny that it has always been a fabric of society
