Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 IMO he has done well as Captain and there was no need for this. So, looks like it may be someone like Dilshan :hmmm: or they may go back to Jayawardena.

saneindian Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 He was doing well as the captain. Taking your team to the WC final is no mean achievement. Perhaps the pressure of keeping, no 3 batsman and leading the side was becoming too much for him.
NareshK Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'm not surprised. Its incredibly tough to handle the pressure of being a main batsman, wk and the skipper. Dhoni
Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 mathew is new captain :good: :woot::woot::woot::woot:
Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 BTW is this the 1st step towards retirement by Sanga :hmmm:
BeautifulGame Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Very surprising The problem for srilanka is most of their senoirs are too old to last 2015 WC and cant build a team around any of them. They should appoint Mattews as captain and build a team around him as he is the only guarenteed starter from of their youngsters

kabira Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Sangakarra can easily play another world cup and so is Jayawardane.. Remember Murli retired at 39.
pinkfreud Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 ^^ Exactly. Sanga was a good captain for SL.. don't think he should've stepped down just yet.
Karan114 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Surprising decision...if the pressure of both batting and keeping while captaining was getting too much, would have been better to get a specialist keeper in the team. Opposition fans don't like him for obvious reasons, but Sanga has done a good job as captain for Lanka. There's no real contender right now...Dilshan is a bit too seedy to become captain (and 34 anyway), Mathews is still young and as an all-rounder a little injury prone.
BeautifulGame Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 How old are they? Sanga 33 Jayawardne 34 Dilshan 34 Samaraweera 34 Cant see any of them playing next world cup
